Description
Brought to you by Penguin.
From the popular podcast Power Hour comes a book about making the most of the first hour of your day, to pursue your passion and achieve success.
How many times have you said, 'I'd love to do that, but I don't have time'? The Power Hour message is simple: we all have an hour to dedicate to creating the life we want, whether we think we do or not. Power Hour will help you realise the importance of focusing on what you want during that first essential hour, before the rest of the world wakes up and starts competing for your attention.
Based on the popular podcast of the same name, Power Hour will help you reclaim your time and unlock your full potential by taking the first hour of each day to focus on what you want to achieve - whether that's writing a book, running a marathon or starting a business.
Stop waiting for the right time, or for more time. Start with just one hour today.

Adrienne Herbert's motivational, friendly tone is the perfect voice to read 'Power Hour'. I initially assumed that Herbert's book would centre on how to implement a power hour and the benefits of doing so. Instead, her book builds on her successful inspiring podcast about how to achieve personal goals. Bookended by chapters offering advice about creating a power hour, the majority of Herbert's book explores topics such as movement, purpose and sleep. These are all things of which one must investigate and take control in order to thrive. The overall effect of the book is extremely motivating, as Herbert is good at making the lifestyle and mindset changes she suggests seem clear and easy to do. Be prepared, however, Herbert's 'you can do anything' approach does not make allowances for those whose health (physical or mental) may not permit them to pursue life as ruthlessly as she encourages.
Thank you so much for allowing me an advanced copy of this incredible book. I hadn’t heard of the author before coming across this. As soon as I read the blurb I knew this was the book for me. Adrienne is an extremely inspiring and focussed woman. I haven’t listened to her podcast but will certainly be now. She pulls together what she has learnt interviewing highly successful people for her podcast and her own thoughts on The power hour. What would you do if you had an extra hour a day? Exercise, learn a new language, meditate or journal? Anything Is possible if you make time to achieve your goals. Adrienne offers lots of advice and tips which all can be achieved by waking up an hour earlier. I have read other similar books on this topic but this felt much more real and relatable to me. I will certainly be starting my own power hour. This is the perfect book for starting a fresh new year!
‘The power hour’ is a fantastic book for anyone who is even the slightest bit motivated to improve their life!
Being narrated by author Adrienne, her passion for her lifestyle is clear, and this gives the audiobook an energy and authenticity that just makes you want to keep listening and applying the practical strategies.
There are so many useful strategies from Adrienne herselfin addition insight she has gleamed from numerous high achievers she has interviewed in her podcast of the same name.
I absolutely love that this title is available in an audiobook version, as it makes it so easy to digest when going about your daily tasks.
I was initially wary that this would be all about getting up an hour earlier each morning, and while Adrienne gives good reasons why this will improve our lives, the book is so much more than this. It offers inspiration to identify and reach our goals, and practical strategies along the way.
I particularly loved chapters relating to sleep, daily movement and personal relationship. This book really is all about life and how to do / make it better!
My thanks to NetGalley, Author and Publisher for the opportunity to review this life-changing book in exchange for an advance copy.
If you didn’t know already, I LOVE self-help non-fiction books. I am always on the lookout for ways to improve myself and my lifestyle, and though I don’t do big overhauls or changes, I find that making small changes does really impact me and I find it much easier to stick to.
Herbert’s Power Hour (an extension of her podcast of the same name, which I hadn’t heard before but will definitely listen now!) is a simple statement: how much extra could you achieve if you got up an hour earlier? The book doesn’t suggest you need to try and change the world or take on a huge project, but that hour could be used for running, writing a book or even reading more books!
The book offers tips to help you identify your goals, personal anecdotes from Herbert, as well as tips about sleep, healthy eating and how best to view your goals. Herbert’s reading of the audiobook is cheery and so easy to listen to - I would 100% have Adrienne as my wake-up call and motivation alarm on my phone. It’s also pretty short, so gets to the point quickly and doesn’t waste your time with any fake wisdom.
If you are a fan of the power hour podcast then this accompanying audiobook is for you. A more in-depth look at why we need the power hour and the benefits it will bring to our lives as well as some simple suggestions on how to create your own.
Power Hour refers to both the title of this book and the first hour of each day, when the focus remains on habit implementation, productivity, and progression.
Throughout this non-fiction, author Adrienne Herbert coaches the reader in how to utilise this first hour for continued greatness and to ensure we understand that we all have the time to do exactly what we want with our lives, if only we are willing to carve out the time it takes to get there. I found the contents incredibly inspiring and loved the personal anecdotes that were littered throughout.
The first hour of every day in 2021, so far, has been dedicated to inward focus where I have spent time in finding inner-peace and controlled thoughts before facing the chaos of living through a pandemic. I am still a work in progress but feel far better equipped to take on 2021, with this book by my side.
I have been just as motivated by this book as I have by its other lovely readers, who have woken at 6.30am all week along with me, on Instagram. We have all read pages of this book together before discussing our aims and our goals. Knowing you are not alone in a reality where contact is so limited has been incredibly heartening and I am so grateful to have been a part of this power hour movement.
I loved this audiobook! So much great advice, but offered in a manageable way. I wasn't keen on the idea of waking up an hour early (who would be?) but the rest of the advice has really struck a chord. The chapter on sleep was very helpful - lots of tips on ways to not only get more sleep but improve the quality of it, too. This book has given me a renewed energy for life and a real feeling of determination!
On a side note, the author reading the book is a definite bonus for me! She was so enthusiastic, it was impossible not to be swept along!
