The story was a laugh a minute.
I had never read this particular Author before but looked up her,on the Internet to enjoy other such tales by her. I could only find one that interested me but I bought it.
Heidi Wessman Kneale writes intriguing stories.

A very engaging story of a crush, a young girl who is disappointed because she still has not had her come out. A young man who does not want to get married but his mother fears that a scandal would ruin her youngest son of a good marriage. The crush is next door and she thinks that glamor and gorgeous gowns, and great food should be in her future. Felicity Anne Abbott is kept busy at this crush and even defends Mr. Victor Wyndell. She likes him. So much is going on at this sort of party. Young women are spreading false rumors, someone brings a fox and hounds into the house, gentlemen getting drunk, and magic is being used. This just part of the happenings during the night. It is a busy tale. You should read it if you like ladies fighting or Victor and Felicity getting caught in a dark room kissing and a duke looks in looking for his fiance. It is funny, sad because of the rumors, and the press of people in this poor house.

What Does a Crush and a Young Girl's Hopes Have In Common?
In this case, both are disappointed.

This is a humorous take on a Crush (very full Regency party) where scandal is rearing it's head, weaving through polite society. Felicity, who is not out for the Season with the ton, sneaks into the party to experience something of the delights of the fashionable set. She becomes embroiled in the mystery along with a young man, Victor, who would rather not be there but is trying to placate his worried mama about avoiding a scandal.

There are moments where I found the book very amusing, and if you're ready for a light read with a little bit of kissing and a new view for a historical romance, then this is the book for you.

I kept my review at three stars because the world building fell short for me. However, I'm probably too familiar with Regency England, and that's why I couldn't suspend my disbelief over Felicity's disregard for her own reputation. Other details of the era were spot on, like how guests removed themselves to go to the bathroom. (And this might be more information than some readers want.) When I read fantasy, my personal preference is to have a magic system with definable rules and scope. I didn't feel like I knew what magic could and couldn't do in this story. It felt like men were at the women's mercy and without recourse. Finally, I felt like it was a little too repetitive in some instances.

I wanted to love the book, but I ended up liking it and definitely think there is an audience for it. I hope you enjoy your reading.

I'm not sure I should recommend this to all HR readers because it is a very light read without a lot of character development. I suppose it could be called a "Regency romp" because the story seems to be trying to emulate Georgette Heyer's kinetic female leads (e.g., The Grand Sophy), plus Jill Barnett's "magic" (see "Bewitching"), plus the feistiness of Lynn Messina's hoyden series. It's not a complete flop, but it gets rather confusing. I saw no point to the "magical/enchantment/spell" issues except as some kind of vague plot device or deus ex machina. The improbability of the entire scenario of the female lead's attending a party she wasn't supposed to be at but she kept getting away with it even when she always gave her name when asked, the search for a secret agreement that seemed rather "light" in terms of provoking a major scandal, and how everything occurred at one party on one night. I did read it through to the end to see what the big deal was, and it seemed rather lame when "all was revealed." But if you want a light-hearted tale, it might entertain you for a few hours on a plane ride (if we can ever take airplane trips again) or a beach read (if we can ever go to the beach again). I have certainly attempted to read worse and many that were DNF, and this wasn't that bad. But it does quite reach the bar it was trying to get over. #NetGalley #CurrentlyUnchaperoned

I started the story and felt the heroine was way too young for me to continue. I also felt confused by all that was happening. I read the end and found out what the agreement was and a few other things and decided this story was more of a Young Adult Sweet story and not the genre that I prefer to read. I am sorry but I will not be writing a comprehensive review as I have not completed reading every word in this book. Thank you for the ARC - I hope it will do well and believer there is definitely a market for this book.

I'm new to this genre so I'm unsure how I feel about this book. Because I loved Bridgerton, of course I had to start reading Regency type novels to fill my need for more. When I saw Currently Unchaperoned offered on Netgalley, I thought is sounded fun with Regency and Magic blendend in one story. It was definitely different. It read like more of a young adult book and sometimes was a bit all over the place, but again I'm still new to this genre.

I still enjoyed the story enough to finish it and I'd read more by this author. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me discover and read work by Heidi Wessman Kneale.

I enjoyed reading this book as it was different. The action took place in one house and as it was a mystery to solve l kept on reading. There was humour and good description of the characters lwill definitely read more by this author .

I'm a sucker for historical fiction and Currently Unchaperoned did not disappoint! Felicity is eager to make her debut in society. It's a case of "be careful what you wish for" as she's suddenly pulled into a mystery, alongside the handsome Victor Wyndell.

I wasn't too fond of the magical element in the novel. It was a bit of a turn-off for me, but it didn't take too much away from the deeper storyline, so I'd still probably read more of what this author has written.

I was not expecting such a fun historical romance. Victor and Felicity both end up at the same crush together. You can feel their chemistry. What transpires at this crush was a new and interesting take on historical novels.

Felicity and her ever charming Victor journeyed through this love story with not a care of what the ton has to say about their clandestine love affair. Some moments were humorous, while others were very entertaining. I thought Felicitys character was very independent and charming. Victor dominance is something that worked with Felicitys desire to live a life as a liberated woman.

I have not had the opportunity to read anything by this author before and I was excited to try this book out. I was not disappointed! This is the first installment of the Currently Charmed series and what a delightful start! Felicity is not yet out in society and she sneaks out to attend the Chester's crush next door. There she encounters Victor, who she has seen through her window before and is utterly infatuated with. Victor is forced to attend the party by his mother, who is trying to stop a scandal from ruining their family reputation. Felicity and Victor keep running into each other and end up spending a lot of time together searching for this mysterious item that could ruin his family.
I found this to be a very charming, entertaining, and enjoyable read and the story captured my attention from the start. The characters were nicely developed and there was no question as to how strong their chemistry was. A very well-written story and great start to what looks to be a very entertaining series!

A fun, quick read. There's so much to appreciate, scandal, intrigue and best of all LOVE. Felicity and Victor have immediate chemistry which made for a very enjoyable read.
