The author Susie Larson takes us on a 24 day journey through Advent using the Gospel of Luke in this newest book of hers.
Reading this, I felt very encouraged to make this holiday season different from previous years where the hustle and bustle takes the place of the real meaning of Christmas.
Each days reading consists of a chapter of Luke, a very solid application of the reading to your life, a beautiful prayer, and an idea for applying what you read to make this Advent season what it can and should be.
I highly recommend this devotional to anyone looking to have a different Christmas this year, one with Jesus at the center of the celebration.
I have enjoyed several other books by this author as well, the most recent being “Prevail.”

This is a wonderful book that helps the reader focus on the true reason for the Christmas Season. It is easily digestible in daily readings, encouragements and fasting recommendations. Through stories and illustrations Susie brings the content to life and invites readers to join her on a wonderful journey!!

Susie Larson’s Prepare Him Room, advent devotional is a lyrical invitation to set aside the stress and business often associated with Christmas for a closeness with Jesus. Susie’s simple but profound writing invites you to make space within yourself for Jesus, as each devotion ends with a suggestion of a mindset, emotion or action etc. to fast from. Through daily reading a chapter from the book of Luke, other scripture passages and prayer prompts the sacrifice and love of Christ is experienced in new ways. Susie is an artist when it comes to words, her poignant one liners and visual word pictures wrap readers into a warm embrace encouraging them to slow down, settle one’s hearts on things above and live a life of expectancy.

This author has written more than one book that has been so beneficial to me. She is always strong in her Faith and honest about how hard life can be. She teaches that in the midst of the storm you don’t have to sink but with Faith and a firm foundation you can be steadfast. She shares her personal experiences and tells how she weathered her own storms in own life. I am thankful she shares scripture through this book that help encourage and remind one to be hold on. Her willingness to be real and honest is so encouraging to me.

Larson approaches the season in a different way in this beautiful devotional. She walks us through the book of Luke, a chapter a day for 24 days. Readers meditate on the chapter in light of God’s gift to the world – Jesus.

Each devotion ends with a prayer that helps the reader prepare room for Jesus and a prompt to fast from emotions like impatience, a commercialized holiday, worry, and much more.

This prayerful devotional might be what you and others around you need to prepare room for Jesus this Christmas. It was for me.

Susie Larson has done it again with her Advent devotional titled Prepare Him Room. In this book, she takes us on a daily journey through Luke during the Advent season. The format of each devotional; a chapter from Luke (along with supplemental Bible verses), a daily prayer (Prepare Him Room), and a suggestion for a "fast" from something (Look Up) gives me much to ponder. This book gives me a fresh lens to look through as I 'clean my glasses' and think about Jesus' birth.
I LOVE Susie's unique perspective as she writes about our prayers to change others! She writes, "...He changes you. He offers a fresh perspective on places within you that still need healing." The Look Up section invites me to give up things like jealousy, overextension, and rigid expectations, all items that contribute to my stress during the holidays. Instead of packing my schedule AND shopping cart with things, I'm encouraged to load up on Jesus. I am anxious to read Prepare Him Room again during Advent to help, "All priorities fall in place when I give God 1st place."

When I began reading “Prepare Him Room,” I admit I expected a pretty typical devotional about the Christmas season and how to fully appreciate the gift of Jesus. I received so much more! Susie brought Luke to life for me. I highlighted so many parts of this precious book, but I’ll share my favorite highlighted section here. It reminds me to savor the season and, most of all, the people in my circle, rather than trying to “do” everything expected:

“Even today, countless Christians sludge through life exhausted, burdened, and under-joyed. Does Jesus berate them for the condition of their souls? No, he says, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

This book truly helped me readjust my view of this hectic season and see the love it brings to me. Pure love. And it encourages me to focus on that love above all else. Thank you, Susie. #preparehimroom

I received an Advanced Reader copy of the book from the publisher and I have to say that Susie Larson is one of my favorite authors. With the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season, people tend to forget the true meaning of why we celebrate. Jesus’ birth is the focus here, to take that sacred space and bring Him in as the focus of this holiday season. Reading this book will keep the important thing, the important thing which is celebrating our Saviors birth.

I just love this book! I’ve read many of Susie Larson’s books and have been blessed! Once again her absolutely beautiful new devotional is drawing me to the heart of God and a deeper intimacy with Him. If you want to be a light this season, “Prepare Him Room” by Susie Larson is a must read!!!
