Description
They need a Christmas miracle to save their marriage. What they get is a perfect storm.
Confident investment broker Bryce Solace has few regrets in life, but never fighting for his marriage is one of them. Although he still loves his wife, it’s too late for a second chance—until a friend invites him on a guys’ trip to a mountain cabin for some sledding and snowboarding.
Single Mom, Liberty Solace is swamped by the demands of running a business and parenting. She never wanted to end things with Bryce or keep his baby a secret from him—just from his toxic mother. When a friend convinces her to take a week away without the baby, Liberty isn’t sure what to expect. Definitely not her ex waiting at the cabin in the mountains!
With a fallen tree blocking the road, these two former spouses are stuck together with only their regrets and secrets to keep them company. Will old flames be rekindled, or will their friends’ matchmaking plan only reopen old wounds?

The Investor's Wife is the fifth story in The Caregivers Series by Rose Fresquez. We encountered Bryce briefly in Ms. Frequez’s previous book The CEO's Companion. He was struggling with his sense of self and seemed cynical about the role of God in his life plan. When we see him again, his life is even more off kilter. He is married to Liberty, but they are not together mainly due to mother’s constant manipulations. They have been apart for nearly two years, and he is longing to reunite with the love of his life. When their mutual friends conspire to bring them together at a secluded cabin, it looks like they may be headed towards a reconciliation. But not if his mother has anything to do with it! Liberty has spent the time apart from Bryce working on her spiritually and raising their young daughter. She has kept the child a secret from Bryce out of fear of how his mother will react. Will Bryce understand? Will he take her side for once? I have read several of Rose Fresquez’s books and always greatly enjoy them. This book is the first one (that I recall) where we encounter an actual “villain”. Bryce’s mother was both controlling and a bully. Her actions were divisive and elitist, and Ms. Fresquez allowed us to see that the face of evil can be subtle and insidious. We can also see that the people who say they love us the most can also do the most damage. I was happy when Bryce was finally able to find the strength to reclaim his family. As always, it is a treat to read this author’s lovely prose and take the journey of growth with her characters.
