Ebb and Flow is a wonderful book. It is beautifully written and illustrated . It is inspirational in its message about the power of water in all its forms and our interconnectedness with it but it is also full of practical advice and guidance about how to harness its power and benefits in our daily life.
Very interesting book. It is quite spiritual, more than I usually read, but I really enjoyed it as I love experiencing water. The book is well written, the stories flow well and are accompanied by beautiful drawings. The journaling/thinking exercises are a nice touch.
I am 100% here for a feminist exploration of our relationship with water.
If you read 'The First Woman' by Jennifer Makumbi and found the aspect of women being of the sea interesting, this will help to explore it further.
There is a strand focusing on ecology and a strand focusing on 'blue health' and wellbeing.
This makes sense as the focus is 'the interdependence of your health and the health of water'. If anyone has tried to swim or surf on the English or Welsh coasts recently, this might resonate. If we want to keep enjoying the water, and to have clean water to swim in, ecological concerns are likely to be at the forefront of our minds.
The book includes journaling exercises and invitations to movement practices, alongside visualisations. This means it's not just a read - it's an experience.
