Description
This book is not about getting somewhere, because you’re already there. It’s not about becoming someone, because you already are that someone. It’s not about having or doing, because the having and doing will happen through you once you awaken to the truth of who and what you are.
If you’re tired of looking outside of yourself for the answers, allow author and mind-body expert Cortney McDermott to guide you on a journey inside yourself. In this challenging, uplifting, and inspirational work, readers are invited to form a powerful and very personal connection to the same mind-body expert that trains some of the world’s most successful business and entertainment leaders. The same transformational guide who has coached executives at Google, Universal Music Group, and Virgin Unite is here to awaken your consciousness to the tools you already possess for life-changing transformation.
In this book, you will learn:
- How to transform without ‘doing’ anything: how shifting your attention and awareness can change everything in your life.
- What “thoughts” really are and what to do about them: how to bring yourself out of a negative thought spin.
- The fastest ways to shift your state
- The most effective (secret) forms of “meditation”
- Why giving yourself permission is so scary and how to start overcoming the fear
Join Cortney on this incredible journey to harness the vibrant energy you’re already capable of and live your most full, most-actualized life.

I can’t wait to reference this book and continue using the tools and tricks and tips provided by the author. I feel like since attending therapy, my mind is more open to some of these types of practices. However, there may be difficulty with some of these concepts for someone who isn’t as adept or experienced with these things. Overall, I would recommend this to my friends with similar life backgrounds and experiences as myself.
Great cover and title - those two things drew me in. I was surprised at how relatable this book was and that it included information and tips I hadn't come across before in this genre. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. Five stars.

In her compelling book, McDermott centers on a powerful theme: the notion that we already possess everything essential for personal transformation and fulfillment. Rather than endlessly pursuing external achievements, she challenges us to turn our focus inward, unveiling the immense potential that lies within. By tapping into our innate power, McDermott explains how we can effect meaningful change in our lives.
The book serves as a practical guide, equipping readers with valuable tools and techniques for embarking on this inner journey. McDermott delves into the nature of thoughts, providing insightful strategies to break free from negative thought patterns that often hinder our growth. She emphasizes the significance of shifting our mental state and offers effective methods to swiftly achieve such shifts. Moreover, McDermott introduces lesser-known forms of "meditation," enabling us to cultivate inner peace and clarity in unique and accessible ways.
A notable strength of this book is its relatability and accessibility. Drawing from her experience in coaching executives at prestigious organizations, McDermott showcases her expertise in guiding personal transformations. Yet, she effortlessly connects with readers on a personal level by sharing anecdotes and insights that resonate with people from all walks of life. This relatable approach, combined with an engaging and inspiring writing style, keeps the reader captivated throughout the transformative journey.
