So many great ideas to incorporate into my plan to have a quiet space of my own, the budget friendly tips make it easier.
If you're planning to give your garden a makeover, this is the perfect book for you. I am in exactly that position - we've removed hedges and patchy grass from our back garden and it currently looks like a recreation of the Somme. In addition to this we're novice gardeners with very little experience or knowledge, but very much want an area to relax in so this book couldn't have come along at a better time.
Manoj Malde takes you right back to the very start of the process - what space do you have, what soil do you have, what kind of atmosphere are you looking for (lighting, paving, planting, etc), how do you want to use the garden - and guides you into creating a landscape project for yourself. It's very readable, very logical and well laid out and beautifully illustrated to give you plenty of inspiration. I've been a little afraid of the scale of the project we have in our garden but this has given me reassurance in what we need to do and I'm looking forward to the better weather to get started!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy in return for an honest review. I will post this review to Goodreads today and to retail outlets on publication day..

My garden is my Zen zone and this book does a beautiful job laying out how to create your very own glorious eden. I love how the book breaks down the foundational principles of garden design, including establishing a budget, explaining color theory and creating a survey on paper before digging in. This book offers unique themes for your outdoor room and helps you best determine how/where to design social spaces, based on your personal needs. It touches on hardscapes, softscapes, lighting, plant selection, water features and even furniture. I also appreciate that the author thoughtfully devoted an entire chapter to sustainability and how to incorporate it into your design plan so you can truly be one with nature.
