Description
Beyoncé was quiet as a child but always enjoyed singing and dancing. At a young age, she went to see a concert, and from that moment on, she felt inspired to perform. She loved putting on shows for the people having their hair cut in her mom's salon, but knew she was destined for a bigger audience.
After winning a local talent show, Beyoncé joined the newly formed girl group Girls Tyme. The band eventually became Destiny's Child and shot to stardom with their catchy R&B songs and fierce dance routines.
As a solo artist, she has since achieved incredible success with numerous number one hits, including 'Irreplaceable' and 'Crazy in Love', and several critically acclaimed and award-winning albums, including 'I am... Sasha Fierce', 'Lemonade', and 'Renaissance'.
She has received the most grammy nominations of any artist in history and is now one of the most influential people in the world. As well as being a performer, she is a mother, businesswoman, philanthropist, and role model for all those who want to reach for the stars.
This powerful book features stylish and quirky illustrations and extra facts at the back, including a biographical timeline with historical photos and a detailed profile of the performer's life. I absolutely loved this new addition of the Little People, BIG DREAMS series. The illustrations are nice and colourful and Beyonce's biography simplified in a child-appropriate way. Whether a kid already knows and idolises Beyonce or is just in need of a new empowering role model, this book is a wonderful volume to read and be read to.
Thank you Frances Lincoln Children's Books for providing the eARC via NetGalley.
While I am a fan of this biography series for kids, and a fan of Beyoncé, I think I can remove myself professionally and still review this book objectively.
And, it's great.
Not only does Little People, Big Dreams: Beyoncé celebrate Queen Bey herself; the book celebrates perseverance, passion, and Black excellence. If you're collecting the Little People, Big Dreams biographies...or selectively choosing for your library (like I do), this is a must-buy.
I am so excited that the Little People, Big Dreams collection of stories has added Beyonce to the mix! This was a great story and provides an excellent high level introduction to Beyonce - her trajectory and contribution to music history, shaping what R&B looks like today. As well as shaping who she is as a person beyond her music career. The illustrations are gorgeous and eye-catching. The elements of the story are well crafted and a great inspiration for young girls who are reading this story.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this eARC to read and review!
I'm always excited when I see a new book added to this series. I knew practically nothing of Beyoncé's life before Destiny's Child so it was fascinating to see what she got up to in her childhood and how her career took off and went through so many different stages. I love love loved the art style in this one and thought it matched the story perfectly. Another great inspiring addition to the series!
How cute of book about Beyoncé and her growth to fame. I being someone who has attended and listened to Beyoncé music and concerts learned some things from this book. Her accolades being on display and also her most popular song “single ladies” being tied to her own love life. The very ending about lemonade and her tying it in with black women and family warmed my heart.
It’s great to see another little people book particularly when they feature female role models. Nice and easy to read and some lovely graphics make this a firm favourite,
This was such a cute book! I really loved the illustrations. They added a lot of depth to a simple, yet captivating description of Beyonce’s career. I especially loved the illustration of her in all of her red carpet looks with her many awards. This is a great introduction into Beyonce’s career and gives room to show that her accolades are still growing.
I have been a fan of Beyoncé's music for a long time so it is great to see her being celebrated and learn more about her.
This series just keeps getting better and better and Beyoncé’s installment is truly a work of art! It starts with her young life as a musician and her journey to forming Destiny’s Child and then through her many transformations as an artist, breaking all the barrier’s and molds in not o let R&B/Hip Hop/Rap, but the music industry as a whole. The artwork is so vibrant and joyful and I will happily be adding the finished copy to my home library.
Another addition to an excellent series of brief bios for kids, with good clear writing and illustrations and a timeline of their life. I am neither her nor there about Beyonce, so have no opinion about her, but the book, one in a series, continues it's job of reaching out to young audiences and giving them what they want.
Another great book in this series, this time about icon Beyoncé. This series is so great for children with both the friendly format of info and beautiful illustrations!
I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
As a mom, I’ve always been interested in making sure my children are aware of the strong women who have blazed a trail in life, pursued their dreams and overcome obstacles. It’s one reason that the Little People, Big Dreams series has been present in our home since our children were babies. This latest book on Beyoncé is a fantastic new addition to the ones we have and gently showcases how Beyoncé grew from a little girl from Houston into the powerhouse Queen she is today. It’s presented in an age-appropriate way and doesn’t get too bogged down in details that young readers may not be interested in, choosing to focus instead on how Beyoncé discovered her passion and pursued it. The illustrations were lovely, as they always are in this series, and I appreciated the empowering, positive vibes and girl power that subtly runs through the book (appropriate, given Beyoncé’s platform and what she’s known for). The timeline in the back of the book was interesting and really demonstrated her many accomplishments, which would be encouraging for many young readers to see that anything is possible. I also enjoyed that there was a small box at the end of the book for further reading for anyone interested in knowing more about her. Overall, a good introduction to a wonderful, modern feminist role model—one I’m looking forward to sharing with my girls!
Beyonce is the perfect addition to the Little People, Big Dreams family. Her story of grit, determination and a desire to succeed is inspirational.
The series are perfect for those children that are just managing to independently read and the books are great as shared reads.
Beyonce's life story is illustrated by the wonderful Jade Orlando - her pictures are bright and colourful and they pop off the page.
The timeline at the rear of the book details more about Beyoncés life and there is also a recommendation of other novels that are available on Beyonce.
Thank you for the eARC NetGalley!
Book was cute and fun. As a Beyonce fan, of course I'd love every album mentioned and hits, but as someone who would easily gift this to my niece about a little bit of a back story on Queen Bey herself, it was great and perfect for the age group that it's targeting.
This is a cute picture book about a woman a lot of people look up to. Beyonce grew up wanting to be a performer, and she succeeded beyond her wildest dreams. She is still beautiful and still singing, even after achieving so much. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this
What a cute little biography! Full of stunning and adorable illustrations and lots of fun facts and information about queen and music icon Beyoncé. It’s not only her life story, but also a great real-life example of how no dreams are too big and how following your passions can lead to great things! I can’t wait to read this with my son!
Rating 4.5 stars
Great reading for a kid, especially one who likes Beyonce's music and dance. It gives a mini background on Beyonce's love for music - singing and dancing. Little People, Big Dreams - Beyonce also has a good message for kids who admire her.
My only issue with the book, the illustrations are not of a good quality. The image does not even compare to Beyonce.
Fun and energetic, just like Beyoncé. This was a nice summary of her life thus far, with cute illustrations and more info at the back.
This book is beautifully illustrated and giving a brief overview of the life of Beyonce. It is a lovely overview of how she became the idol she is today. As always it encourages children to follow their passion and is a sweet and uplifting read.
What a beautiful new release in the Little People, Big Dreams series. Beyonce is such an icon, she is current and aspirational and I'm delighted to see this book being added to the series.
The illustrations are so captivating and make the book accessible for all ages, while also being useful in supporting language for english language learners.
The story is simple, but engaging. It covers the major milestones of Beyonce's life and would be an invaluable resource for children starting out on project work.
I would be delighted to use this book with my own pupils in school as I think it would engage even the most reluctant of readers.
I learned something pretty cool from this book.
I grew up in the era of Destiny’s Child & then the rise of Beyonce. I saw this book and at my grown age, I had to read it.
I love how even the drawings are reminiscent of real outfits Beyonce and Destiny’s child has worn, even down to pictures of her as a child.
It’s a cute biography for children that would definitely encourage them to sit in silence and enjoy the wonders of their own possibilities.
I volunteered to read this ARC through NetGalley
There is very few people if any in this world who have not heard of The Queen Bee herself Beyoncé! Vegas does a wonderful job highlighting Beyoncé's life from child till now in a way that kids understand and will feel inspired! I even learned a couple new things myself. I loved how it highlighted her roots and accomplishments as a woman of colour as she had many firsts! Such a great book for everyone alike.
Another great read from the little people big dreams series. My daughter really enjoyed finding out about Beyoncé. Thank you
My fave of the little people big dreams series so far! Such an inspirational story all children should read. My 9 year old adores this series and learning facts about famous people. The illustrations are beautiful. Excited to read more of these books soon ❤#Beyoncé #NetGalley
Love this series. The illustrations are always wonderful and eye catching for kids. I especially loved the illustration of Beyoncé. Big roar, beautiful! So fun to read this series with kids, adults will enjoy it too.
Fab intro to all things Queen Bee!
Loved the illustrations and all the information that went with - definitely one to show any kids that like dancing along to Single Ladies!
A round of applause for the ILLUSTRATIONS. The colors, style, simplicity, but details are gorgeous. This book has a great, but not complicated, overview of Beyoncé. As a teacher, I appreciate the timeline at the back with photographs. This is a great place to discuss text features and that this book is non fiction even though it has drawings.
As an elementary school teacher I love the Little People Big Dreams series. These books are great for children to learn about icons of all backgrounds. I love how the collection is so diverse. The Beyonce book is very well written the illustrations are beautiful. I highly recommend this book as it is a positive reflection for little girls and any child who has big aspirations.
This kid-friendly book about one of the most prominent musicians of the 21st century is so beautiful, with clear writing and gorgeous illustrations. This is an excellent read for young ones interested in Beyonce or her music or anyone looking to expand their knowledge of modern idols.
The lovely LPBD team have turned their biographical skills to one of the MVPs of music.
Beyonce Knowles started her career singing for tips in her mum’s hair salon then won her first accolade at the school talent show, age 7. She went on to join choirs before setting up a band called Girls Tyme with her friends.
Over the years, the band changed its name and its members several times but eventually, shot to global stardom as Destiny’s Child, changing the face of R&B and Hip Hop music forever. When Queen Bey decided to go solo, she achieved superstardom with her anthem, Crazy in Love, following it up with hit after hit including Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) after marrying Jay-Z.
Her album ‘Lemonade’ is a tribute to Black women everywhere and she has become one of the most celebrated artists of all time, giving hope and determination and drive to girls, especially Black girls, everywhere. She proves that passion and determination, plus a sizeable helping of immeasurable talent of course, will take you to new heights.
We love this book, its description of Queen Bey’s climb to the top and its message of positivity and perseverance encouraging our little ones, age 4-7, to follow their dreams and work hard to achieve their goals.
As a small child Beyonce dreamt of being a singer and sang to any audience whenever she could. Soon she worked with a group that changed and more until she became a solo performer who developed dance moves that were popular in all corners of the world. Beyonce has changed the music scene forever.
The illustrations by Jade Orlando are fun, simple, brilliantly colorful, and delightful.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school or your local public library!

As a huge fan of Beyoncé and of the "Little People, Big Dreams" books, I was very excited to read this book with my family. This is a great biographical story about the chart-topping superstar that is easy for children to understand. Beyoncé’s inspiring story is interesting and informative for children and adults alike, and the illustrations are fun and unique. I enjoyed the extra facts about the performer's life at the end of the book, which included a biographical timeline, photos, and a more detailed profile. There were also some additional resources on the last page if you want to learn more about her.

I don't know a single person who doesn't like Beyonce. She is a fierce and strong lady. I wish this book had been published when I was a child. I would've liked it. Even as a 25-year-old childless adult, I enjoyed it. I would buy this for little children in my life! Adorable!

I love this series of small biographies for kids, and this was no different! Loved how it really focuses on ALL parts of Beyonce’s life and her various big achievements and not just the ones as a solo artist!
A great say for kids to learn more about Beyonce!
Yet another absolutely awesome addition to the LPBD Book collection - we have an extensive bookshelf of these books and it's so fab to see some more 'recent' icons being added to the list. It's easy to forget some of Beyonce's history including the fact she was in a few different bands before Destiny's Child. I enjoyed reading this with my girls! Stunning illustrations throughout.
We love these books and of course needed Beyoncé. My daughters just getting into proper music and knows who Beyoncé is so she enjoyed this one. We love these books though they are really well writing and the pictures are beautiful.
Who doesn't know Beyonce? Even when you don't listen to her songs, you know her existence in the world. And the author of this book didn't hid anything, Beyonce is a glow by her own self. The smart girl with motivation that rocks the world, inspire black children to do whatever they desire, she's one of the gem. And hopefully, with this book, she can inspire more children to glow like her.
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
Beyoncé is a well deserved and one of the most inspirational additions to the Little People Big Dreams series for children. The artwork is beautiful, and I especially loved the crazy in love illustration and the ones with Beyoncé singing and her roar.
This is going to be a popular addition to the series and shows her life from a quiet young girl to stages through her career, including her childhood achievements and bands to the present day and becoming a mother.
I loved how inspiring this book is to young children today and how it shows that with hard work and determination, you can achieve great things.
I love this series and this one is no exception. I have recently used these in school with my Y6 class and they have devoured the ones we have available! I also enjoy reading them with my own children.
Would highly recommend this series.
My son loved reading this with me. He said Beyoncé is so fun
The pictures and brightness support how great Beyoncé is
This is a another fantastic edition to this wonderful series for young children. Beyoncé is a household name all over the world so I enjoyed discovering more about her childhood and I loved the illustrations by Jade Orlando. I didn’t realise that she’d won so many talent competitions as a young child or that she was in girl groups before Destiny’s child. Highly recommended for younger readers.
Who run the world? Girls!
Who doesn't love Beyoncé? Having the opportunity to read this book in advance is such a pleasure! Thank you so much!
I knew quite a lot about her life and about her dreams, but I always learn something new, like the fact that she started singing in her mum's work place.
I loved the art work, by the way! It is always pretty, but this one is so beautiful and colourful!
I hope this series never ends and I wish I could own them all!
Thank you NetGalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange of my honest opinion, I really appreciate it!
I received a complimentary copy of this book via Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are my own
Beautifully written and illustrated book about a woman who broke the glass ceiling. The images with her voice are wonderful.
Little People, Big Dreams hits another book out of the park this time featuring Beyonce. What an inspiration story about a young girl who pursued her dreams to accomplish big things. The pictures were wonderful and supported the text. Great for young and older readers wanting to learn about Beyonce's start in her career.
A celebration of Queen Bey in a children's series that is appropriate and well-structured. Anyone who loves Beyonce will love introducing her to the next generation through this title. :)
This is a very cute children book about Beyoncé. While the book is clearly targeted to small children, I found the book to be inspiring and showing a good diversity representation.
I love this series!! This mini biography of Beyoncé is a perfect addition! The illustrations are beautiful and I know kids will easily relate to her big dreams. She has accomplished so much already and the book does a good job of highlighting this in the text as well as through the timeline in the back. I really like the addition of photographs on the timeline to really solidify for young audiences that Beyoncé is a real queen Bey!
Thank you to Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara, Quarto Publishing, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this beautiful book!
Students really liked the book. They loved that it was about a musician because they like to sing too! Most of them had heard of Beyonce before, but they all learned new information about her life. Some students felt like the book was a little long. They weren't as interested in her early life as they were about her current music.
As an elder millennial, I LOVED reading about Beyonce and sharing her with my class. I thought the illustrations were rich and vibrant; very engaging. It seemed to cover a lot of the main events of her life, while remaining focused on her. We love Queen Bey! Thanks to netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I can't say that this book told me anything about Beyonce that I didn't already know, but I think it would be great for kids.
In our house we adore Little People, Big Dreams and this edition about Beyoncé is no different! My children love to hear about different celebrities’ lives, especially in the way LPBD tells the story. 5 stars on this title.
This was such a cute read that I made my little niece read kind of like an introduction to my favorite artist of all time. It was so cute.
Another lovely story in this series of books, with gorgeous illustrations this child friendly biography will inform and inspire young readers!
A beautifully written children’s book with colourful and captivating imagery to inspire the young artists of today. Beyoncé’s story was wholistic in a simplified form, meant to inspire the young generation to dream big to achieve big.
I loved everything about this splendid bio of Queen Bey except the cover. Beyoncé deserves a cover that reflects her true beauty. That said, this new addition to the remarkable Little People, Big Dreams series is one I highly recommend for Beyoncé lovers of all ages. Enjoy!
As always - Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara did amazing with this book - the illustrations, the facts, truly everything. I also love that she has a wide range of people she writes these books about - singers and athletes, back and white, female and male, truly everyone can find somethimg for themselves to be represented in.
This is a fun children's book discussing the story of the entertainer, Beyonce. The illustrations are very cute and eye-catching. I think children will absolutely enjoy this book and learn quite a bit about her life, especially before she became famous. This is part of a series of biographies, Little People, Big Dreams written by this author that are well researched and engaging. I look forward to new additions to the series.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
I love that Little People Big Dreams is publishing books of people who are currently making history. It's great to be able to learn about people who are relevant today (as well as the ones from the past!).
Beyonce was another great book. I didn't know much about her other than she's a singer who used to be in an all girl group.
I will continue to purchase this series as gifts for all the little readers in my life!
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group Frances Lincoln Children's Books for the advanced copy.

As a massive Beyonce fan, I absolutely had to download this. I think Beyonce is a brilliant addition to this series, She's accomplished so much in her life and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. This is an inspiring book that I think will become popular amongst the younger readers. I also thought the illustratons in this were really beautiful as well.
Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara has written four children’s books that will be released in early 2024: Lenny Henry, Tenzing Norgay, Sally Ride, and Beyonce. These books are part of the bestselling Little People, BIG DREAMS biography series for kids. Each book is 32 pages and beautifully illustrated. They are perfect for reading to small children during “quiet time”.
Beyoncé Knowles was a quiet child but loved to sing and dance. After going to see a concert, she wanted to perform for others. She put on shows for customers in her mom's hair salon. After winning a local talent show, Beyoncé joined a new girl singing group, Girls Tyme. The band changed up members and names before becoming Destiny's Child, and they became stars due to their catchy songs and dance routines. Eventually Beyonce embarked on a solo career and has been nominated for more Grammy Awards than anyone else in history. She married musician Jay-Z and balances marriage, motherhood, and business.

A lovely book which teaches young fans about Beyonce. This book is beautifully illustrated and takes the young reader through key moments in Beyonce's life and career to date.
Who doesn't love a little people, big dreams book? I've learned so much from reading these as an adult and really enjoyed the illustrations that are throughout the book and Beyonce's is no exception, another fantastic read about a great artist.
These little people big dreams books are perfect! I knew a lot about Beyonce (and am a fan) but loved the way that it teaches kids about her and all of her accomplishments. The illustrations in all of these are great too. I will absolutely look for this to buy as a gift for any Bey Hive friends with children!
A book that will be loved by the Bey Hive as much as it will be loved by kids! A wonderfully inspiring exploration of Beyonce's life with beautiful illustrations - Beyonce singing in the moonlight outside her childhood home in Houston and the Lemonade tree were my favourites. I was also moved by the book's ending as it highlighted the power of perseverance in achieving one's dreams.
Many thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.
This is the sweetest book for any Beyoncé fans and their little families. Loved it, the illustrations are darling.
This is another great book in the series. I learned so much! The extended biography was also very informative. I highly recommend this book and series.
Beyoncé by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara is such a lovely tribute. It is a good progression of her life, starting young and following her journey from her singing at church, to being in Destiny's Child, to performing at the Super Bowl. It is such an inspiration to young girls everywhere that their dreams are so close and worth pursuing.
I recommend this book to anyone who has a child with big dreams. Show them that it's all possible!

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Received for review: I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Why did I decide to turn the pages? I love this series. Most of the books are very informative, and I love the diverse representation in the series. So when I was given the chance to review it, I took it.
My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I loved the illustrations in this one and the theme about reaching for your dreams and working for them. The illustrations of Beyonce singing were particularly well done. It can be tricky to write books about people who are still alive, but I thought this did a good job hitting on the most important parts of Beyonce's life. I think fans will enjoy this one.
