Description

My plate is full enough being a single mom and business owner. I don’t have time to date, not even to fake it.

I’m the only child to three “fairy godmothers.” Yes. You heard me right. My somewhat-crazy, definitely over-the-top aunts all raised me. And now, I’m running the bed and breakfast I inherited from my grandmother, while I raise my seven-year-old son, Noah, single-handedly.

I probably hold the island records for “most likely to turn down a date,” and “least likely to take a day off.” So when Kai Kapule, the manager of the resort’s water sports rentals steps in, pretending to be my boyfriend, I’m quite sure my jaw drops alongside everyone else's.

It’s not the first time Kai’s come to my rescue. But, usually he’s doing things like fixing a leaky faucet or repairing a loose floorboard, not … declaring his status as my boyfriend.

With my ex, Noah’s dad, back on the island, I honestly need an extra layer of insulation against any misguided thoughts he might have of the two of us ever getting back together. What can it hurt to let Kai play the role of doting boyfriend? We both know it’s not real.

Kai’s just pitching in, being his usual protective, charming self.
The trouble comes when we have to act on Kai’s declaration just to keep up appearances. What started as a seemingly harmless declaration is quickly turning into a complicated charade. How long can I resist Kai’s warm caramel gaze, the caring tone in his voice, or the way my body reacts when he innocently touches me? And when he takes care of my son, Noah, I’m basically a goner.

The problem: I can’t date Kai Kapule. And the longer we pretend we’re more than friends, the more it’s going to hurt when I have to let him go.

If you have read anything by Savannah Scott, you are well aware of how amazing her books are and how they just leave you counting down the days until she releases more. I was so excited to get Resorting to Romance as I needed more Kai (and Mila) in my life. It was such a great book, and I finished it in one evening (now I need more please and thank you!). She writes some of the best clean romance with the amazing characters.

Thank you netgalley for an arc of Resorting to Romance by Savannah Scott

What is better than a single dad romance? A single mom romance!!!!

I absolutely loved this book with all my heart. Kai and Mila were so adorable together that I had a big smile on my face the entire time I was reading the book. I really appreciate how they took their time to realise their feelings for each other rather than insta-love. I loved how they both prioritised Noah’s feelings before they took any step.

Kai is such a sweetheart who is ready to give anything in exchange for nothing. Mila is so kind that she wants best for everyone.

I enjoyed how the author wrote their journey with their character development that was consistent with their personality. I loved how there was no unnecessary drama or tangent thrown in. And I especially enjoyed their communication throughout. The way they spoke TO each other instead of speaking ABOUT each other was commendable.

The story was easy to follow and even though this was my first one from the series, I did not feel lost. Side characters were well written and balanced the plot very well.

Overall, I enjoyed every single bit of this book and I cannot wait to read more from the author.

Thank you so much for the ARC.

Resorting to Romance is one of the best slow burn romances I've ever read. Kai and single mom Mila have been best friends for years, and he is "Unko" Kai to her precious son Noah. When the ex husband who abandoned her while she was pregnant with their son shows back up unexpectedly, wanting to reintegrate into their lives, Kai steps up to be Mila's "boyfriend" in order to shield her and buy her time to make decisions about how to proceed.

As they navigate their fake romance in front of all of Marbella Island, Kai realizes that he might have feelings for the woman he has admired as a friend for so long. The crew at the water sports shack weighs in with their usual hilarity, Mila's fairy godmothers (aunts) do a little matchmaking, and Mila's son Noah ultimately gets right to the heart of the matter with the usual straightforwardness of a 7 year old.

Tropes include:
- Island Vibes
- Friends to Lovers
- Small Town Cast of Characters
- Single Mom
- Retired Pro Surfer
- Fake Dating

This story is for all of us who have had our hearts broken, and then found a best friend to help us pick up the pieces. Almost as lovely as the romance thread in this book is the precious island community, who all root for Kai and Mila to realize what everyone else knew all along...that best friends make the best lovers.
