Description

While many aspects of leadership development are similar for women and men, women face different cultural expectations and have different experiences than their male counterparts. Anna Morgan's own experiences in pastoral ministry leadership launched her search for a holistic way to grow the skills, influence, and authority of women who are gifted and called as leaders.

This book provides a positive, comprehensive, research-based model for developing women in church and ministry leadership. Morgan identifies seven aspects of leadership development that form a woman over her lifetime. Three work inwardly as a woman grows in leadership: spiritual calling, giftedness, and emotional intelligence. Four work externally to shape her authority and influence: home life supports, ministry leadership contexts, leadership relationships, and communication.

Growing Women in Ministry offers a new way to understand how women leaders are formed and how they rise to become influential leaders in positions of authority in churches and ministries. It is written in a clear, accessible style for both female ministry leaders and men seeking to promote female leaders. It includes policy suggestions, strategies, values for ideal growing conditions, and discussion questions, making it an ideal resource for ministry, practical theology, and leadership courses, church and parachurch leaders, and pastors.

A research-based model for developing female leaders in church and ministry. Addressing the unique challenges women face, Morgan outlines seven key areas essential for growth. This accessible resource includes strategies, policy suggestions, and discussion questions, making it ideal for churches, leadership courses, and anyone committed to supporting women’s leadership in ministry.

Though academic, this resource is both insightfully engaging and eagerly practical. The author is so thorough that I continuously found myself assessing where I’m at in my leadership development and excited—gasp—about how I can improve! It also helped me feel reassured that it’s okay I don’t know exactly how all my leadership areas will converge in the future- I’m still in the emerging leader phase (2-3) figuring that out :) Because there seems to be such a straightforward path for men in ministry to gain influence and growth, I didn’t know how vital it was for me to understand that women’s leadership journeys should be different and unique. Who would have thought social media is actually a key indicator of women’s pastoral leadership influence? That certainly isn’t the case for most men. And this is just one of the reasons I loved Anna Morgan’s holistic approach to championing female pastors. It’s inspiring to have this roadmap for guidance.

Thank you @bakeracademic for the gifted book! This is special and needed.
