Description

“A spirited romp on the Caribbean seas, Salty is an upstairs-downstairs tale with Kate Myers' signature colorful characters and a setting to die for. For fans of Below Deck and beyond, Salty belongs in your beach bag this summer. A fun and frothy treat!”—Rachel Koller Croft, USA Today bestselling author of Stone Cold Fox and We Love the Nightlife

From the bestselling author of Excavations, a hilarious page-turner about two estranged sisters who reunite to take down the luxury yacht owner who destroyed their childhood home—and might be responsible for the dead body next door.

Captain Denise is more comfortable facing down a stingray than a party guest, though she’s punched both in recent memory. After spending half her life at the helm of yachts across the Caribbean, she’s risen through the ranks thanks to one rule: never, ever mix with the owners.

Her sister, Helen, is a walking HR violation, one of many reasons the two haven’t seen each other in years. Recently fired after burning all her bridges, Helen returns home to work for Denise.

The clashing sisters’ first charter is for the Falcon family, shady real estate developers who mowed down Helen and Denise’s childhood home to build condos. But then the latest Falcon building collapses—and a dead body turns up beside it. Helen and Denise comb through the wreckage to uncover just how low the Falcons will sink in order to stay afloat—before the big storm wipes out the evidence.

Okay this book was so funny! I loved the sister relationship and how it was portrayed. I love that they are total different but come together to take down the shady Falcon family. I loved all the multiple points of view. This book is very much about the rich vs the working class people. I loved that this book had it all- drama, mystery, murder, laughs, love. I think this is the perfect beach read for summer!

Wow! What can I say about Kate Myer’s latest novel, *Salty*? This sarcastic, hilarious page-turner feels like it could be the love child of John Oliver's wit, mixed with *The White Lotus*and *Triangle of Sadness.*

The novel is told from multiple points of view and revolves around two estranged, polar opposite sisters who reunite to take down the owner of a luxury yacht who has bought and ruined their childhood home. Readers also get to know the real estate moguls, the Falcons, their arrogant son, his naive but lovable fiancée, and the family's devious entourage.

Like *The White Lotus* or *Triangle of Sadness* you get beachy vibes that are beautifully interwoven with themes of working-class struggles versus wealthy patrons. This read is well-written, fun, and suspenseful especialy because of the play in time/sequence of events mixed with the multiple POVs.

I would love to buy this as an audiobook to experience the cast of characters and their hilarity. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and would highly recommend it to others. Thank you to HarperVia and NetGalley for this perfect beach read! I definitely am going back to read Myers’ Excavations.

Denise is a no-nonsense boat captain and her younger sister, Helen, is more of a free-spirited social butterfly who also works on boats. When Helen begs Denise for a job, they find themselves reconnecting and uniting against a common enemy - the Falcons. The Falcons are real estate magnates who destroyed Denise’s and Helen’s childhood home and are currently mixed up in another shady deal…

Salty is funny, a bit mysterious, and a lot of fun. I enjoyed getting to know Denise and Helen (and Randy and others) and how they teamed up to take down the Falcons.

Thank you to HarperVia and NetGalley for the opportunity to read a copy.

Tongue-in-cheek, hilariously sharp, and brimming with maritime mayhem, Salty is exactly as its title suggests—a bitingly funny, deliciously cynical look at the ultra-wealthy and their scandalous messes.

Captain Denise is far more at ease wrangling a stingray than entertaining yacht guests. With years of experience navigating the Caribbean, she’s kept her career afloat by following one golden rule: never mix with the owners. That is, until her recently fired, walking-disaster sister Helen shows up to work for her, dragging chaos right onto Denise’s meticulously maintained decks.

Their first gig? Hosting the Falcon family, shady real estate developers who, as fate would have it, bulldozed the sisters' childhood home to build luxury condos. But when one of the Falcons’ newest buildings collapses—and a dead body washes up with it—Denise and Helen are thrown into a storm of corruption, cover-ups, and questionable guests, including the insufferably obnoxious Tom and his suspiciously sweet fiancée, Poppy.

Kate Myers delivers a laugh-out-loud, whip-smart mystery with the perfect mix of family dysfunction, social satire, and high-seas suspense. With a cast of deliciously awful one-percenters and a pair of sisters who are equal parts flawed and entertaining, Salty is a must-read for anyone who loves sharp-witted capers with a side of revenge served briny and cold.

This was a great beach read. The chapters are short, the characters are funny, and the stakes are low. Denise is stereotypical older sister and Helen is the perfect chaos gremlin little sister. I wanted more Jules because her comment at the very end made me actually laugh out loud!

I struggled a bit with pacing because the action only happens in the last 50 pages, and even then it is kind of confusing. The ending with Donna is barely mentioned, Poppy and the LLC isn't mentioned at all, and Randy came out of left field; It felt a little throw everything at the wall and see what sticks. It's been 2 days and I'm still trying to process who did what, when, and why.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the free ARC.
