I was given a copy of this book for an honest review. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Allie is a struggling journalist who is sent back to her home town to write a "Ghost Story". The old Senior Center that is scheduled to be torn down.is haunted and her editor sends her to find a story to could land her the full time job that she been working for. Back home brings her face to face with her ex, her first love and first heartbreak. Tom Donalan who is also for foreman of the demolition team that's going to take down the Center where her story lies.
Will Allie find her ghost, come to terms with her past and deal with the present sparks between her and Tom.
Will she stay near her family or move away before she settles her past. I really totally enjoyed this story, Allie her family and all the other characters in Whispering Bay are a great read. I'd recommend this to anyone.

Quick! Someone tell me how I have never read one of Maria Geraci's books before now? As usual, I started That Thing You Do late one night and quickly finished it at an ungodly hour. I regret nothing! I may never learn, but I don't regret a thing. This book was a-mazing. Small town romance... Second chance romance... Friends to lovers romance... Matchmakers with the best intentions... That Thing You Do had it all wrapped up a pretty package with an adorable cover. Allie and Tom stole my heart. When I read the blurb and as I started to read the book, I was a little afraid of what Tom did to Allie that hurt her so badly. Out of everything that could have happened, I think what did happen actually made me love him a little bit more. He's not one to run away from responsibility. He may have gone about it the wrong way (especially where Allie was concerned), Tom still did what was expected of him and I'm glad he had a second chance to right his wrong. Allie had me in tears for most of the book. The girl is something else. Allie went through an incredibly heart-wrenching event as a kid and has carried the burden with her ever since. It shaped her into the woman she is in the book. She's strong-willed and a tad on the stubborn side. Heh! I adored the two of them together and I can't wait to get little glimpses of them as we move onto Lauren and Nate's story.

As the first book in the Whispering Bay series, That Thing You Do was the perfect introduction. The characters were lovable, not just Tom and Allie. The background characters warmed my heart just as much. The writing was wonderful. The pacing was perfection. I loved how Maria wove the past with the present. We get glances at the young love between Tom and Allie as we learn how happened that fateful night and how it shaped their relationship in the future. I'll happily devour the next two books in the series. And then I'll be sure to go back to pick up Maria's previous books.

...now if only I could get the song That Thing You Do out of my head...

I think I have found my favorite book series after Jill Shalvis' Lucky Harbor Series! This is such a feel-good book that will make you want to stop doing whatever you're doing and read it in one seating. Potty break be damned!

Allie Grant and Tom Donalan are best of friends. Tom is a good guy, outstanding student who is dating the most famous girl in high school, and a star Quarterback. Allie is your ordinary student, and is secretly in love with Tom. It was a huge surprise to everyone in Whispering Bay when they started dating, but that did not deter Allie's love for Tom, and vice versa. Everything was going fine until that one dreadful night when both their lives will drastically change forever. Fast forward 12 years, Allie had come back to Whispering Bay to investigate reports of unusual paranormal activities in Margaret Handy Senior Center, a local recreation center in Whispering Bay. And it is imperative that someone must get to the bottom of this before the abandoned building gets torn down! To Allie this would be a mad idea, a hoax, but for her boss at Florida! Magazine, this is a potential goldmine! And Allie loves her work as a journalist for that magazine, and wants to prove to her boss that she's a top notch journalist and one of the best. So, she ventures all the way to Whispering Bay and get the story that she needs. What she didn't expect upon her return is the sight of Tom Donalan. The boy (well, man now. A handsome, sexy man) who broke her heart into a million pieces. Things went a bit crazy after their first meeting, and even had gone a bit too far when the citizens of Whispering Bay got involved. In the span of five days, Tom and Allie's world have gone from normal to cockamamie. An absolute treat for readers, of course.

'That Thing You Do' is a second chance romance with a mixture of paranormal, humor, and sweetness all over! It's not your typical second chance romance that has lots of sex in it. The book delves deeper into the characters psyche by retelling the events that happened during that night.

The first book of Maria Geraci's Whispering Bay Romance. An absolute delight to read, and a series to look out for. Oh, and this is a stand-alone as well, guaranteed happy ending.

Blast-from-the past romance at its best. In high school Tom and Allie had real romance that started as friends and grew into love. It all came crashing down when an old girlfriend turned up pregnant. Now, 12 years later, Allie is back in town and Tom is divorced. We have a meddlesome ghost, a coin collecting photographer, and enough drama to keep the pages turning and the excitement high.

I can't wait to read Lauren's story in "Then He Kissed Me."
