Description
Dr. Joe Scarfili runs. He’s a runner. It’s how he copes with emotional pain.
When his wife was murdered, he ran from violent Detroit to insular Grosse Pointe. He ran from his smothering, caring family to long hours in the operating room. But when he falls for Gianna, another run could cost him everything.
Nurse and entrepreneur Gianna Donnatelli is on the verge of making her dreams come true. Her company is poised to go public with a product guaranteed to revolutionize medical care and at the same time help revitalize Detroit, only she’s attacked, stalked, and flattened by an explosion. Then the danger escalates.
With Gianna’s life at stake, Joe can’t run. Despite the fact that he has no police or tech experience… Despite the fact that Gianna’s penchant for aiding Detroit’s underprivileged is the same kind of altruism that got his wife killed… Despite the fact that Gianna pushes all his insecurity buttons… This time, Joe will do whatever it takes to keep her safe.
And Gianna protects those she loves just as fiercely. Together they’ll fight to save each other and their love... Or die trying.

A well written, descriptive thriller. All the characters were very believable and the story wend it's way to it's explosive end (I must say I liked the twist, very clever indeed).
Thoroughly enjoyed this novel. Complex characters, good story line. Lots of twists and interactions.
Theresa Rizzo has done a great job of writing this book. She brought all the characters into the story to create a very real life feel with the drama, love and suspense that make a great read. I had a hard time putting it down. Great job
Loved the book, I was surprised by the abrupt ending, but was so glad all of the hanging plots were solved.
Dr Joe Scarfili has never quite recovered from his wife's violent death. Gianna Donnatelli is living and working in a dangerous area of Detroit. She and Joes families know each other and Gianna had a crush on Joe years ago. When they meet up again sparks fly, but Joe has trouble with Gianna's lifestyle. She has similar values as his dead wife and it brings back bad memories and guilt over her death. When Giannas life is threatened Joe has to step up. She has developed new computer technology for use in the medical field with tremendous monetary value and someone is trying to get the technology by whatever means necessary. I couldn't put this book down. This book has romance, betrayal, suspense and a twist at the end of the book that completely surprised me! I received a copy of this book from net galley for an honest review.
This was the first book I have read from Ms. Rizzo and I am HOOKED! This book was OUTSTANDING! The Silent Sentry had everything I look for in a book; character development, a strong story line, a plot that is reasonably believable, and suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat and reading non-stop. To top it off there was a wonderful little romance going on between Joe and Gianna that didn't over power the book. It was just the right mix of everything. The book drew me in from the first few pages. I could truly visualize the characters, the locations, and their feelings. So refreshing when so many authors want to just tell a story...I like to be thrown into the story, I want to see the story and this book gave me that. The secondary characters were all well thought out and were instrumental to the story line. I honestly can't say anything bad about this book. I am going to get on my Kindle and look for more stories by Ms. Rizzo! Well done! A definite 5 star read!
