A cup of herbal tea is special and soothing in various ways. I make my own spice blends, but buy my tea mixes. I've read a few recipe books on herbal teas and Farr's book is helpful and beautifully photographed and laid out. I've not yet blended any of the teas myself but I look forward to mixing and brewing a few. I most enjoyed the informative first part that explain how one blends tea from sourcing ingredients to a refresher on what part means in this type of recipe. Farr further explains different flavourings and styles and has written a resource that will be beneficial to the newcomer and experienced blender alike. Thank you to NetGalley for the review copy.
A unique collection of tea making recipes. This book is informative and well structured. It begins with all the things you need to know about tea and tea blending/making. After providing this information we can dive into a diverse collection of recipes that are known to help heal from strengthening the body to reducing stress. A good book for those who enjoy teas or those interested in holistic healing.
I was so excited to get an advanced reading copy of Healing Herbal Teas from Sarah Farr. This book is out this December 27th an a book I can not wait to hit the market!
This book is the perfect blend of text book, cook book and visual delight. I have already ordered a copy to hold in my hand. From the preview I have seen of this book it is going to be a vital part of my tea time journeys. I have for a long time now wanted to learn the art of blending herbal teas and this book is exactly what I have been waiting for. 101 recipes to keep me busy for all of 2017!
There are more then 270 pages of blends and information you will find invaluable. I know that the Peace tea blend and the Sleep Tea blend are recipes I will try for sure. There are tea recipes for each season and inspiring blends to create for just about every occasion. There is also a great section with tips on how to plan, plant and grow your own tea ingredients!
Easy to understand, great photos and delicious recipes....this is the one you need to buy and keep in the kitchen at all times
This book was right up my alley! Not only do I love to read, but I also am a tea sommelier and am always doing my best to learn as much as I can about healthy foods and superfoods. Healing Herbal Teas was a book I will use a lot and treasure for a long time. I enjoyed learning more about different ways to help heal our bodies with tea. Already, I have made every recipe in the book and will continue to use them daily as part of my health regiment. That is something I will treasure for a long time.
I enjoyed this book. It had wonderful details on the making of herbal teas. A very useful book for the avid tea drinker!
Very interesting book. I will definitely be trying some of those blends.
Fantastic textbook for all things concerned with medicinal and general wellness teas! Very useful!
I enjoyed reading this book on herbal teas. I really liked how the author went over the different tastes of herbs, what the action of the herbs are & what systems are affected for each recipe. This is a great book for beginners to learn how to mix herbs for teas.
Wow! This is an impressive tome with a thorough overview of everything a person who wants to mix their own herbal teas for heath would need to know. There is even a section on growing the herbs yourself. I like that the book is straightforward and factual but that the author adds personal stories that are separate from the information. While I personally have no desire to grow and prepare multiple ingredients for tea I still found a lot of the information fascinating and I think this book will please tea-lovers as well as gardeners, herbalists and diy-ers.
I love to have a cup of tea while reading.
This book has some good information. Covers the strengths of teas, how to blend them and what ingredients to use to get the desired tastes you want. There are some nice recipes with beautiful photography.
This would be a great book for someone new to teas, wanting to try out some out and didn’t necessarily know much about brewing or what ingredients to use.
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley for an honest opinion. My thanks to Sarah Farr and Storey Publishing for the opportunity.
A really interesting book, full of lovely teas all with great properties to them. Defiantly on my to buy list.
A fabulous book with gorgeous photos and interesting information on making your own healing herbal teas from the very beginning - blending and the tea making process and growing your own herbs to sipping your own creations.
Love the recipes by season and explaining what benefits are. Love the beautiful photos also. Complete with information but concise enough to pull it down and whip up a cup or a season worth. We'll done...will recommend it to friends and customers
This is a fantastic book for not just recipes for herbal teas, but also a great instructional book for how to prepare the herbs and different kinds of blends. There is a huge variety of recipes for all aspects of life including a special Vit C tea for children. As a doula I was very excited to see the recipes for pregnancy, postpartum, and nursing mothers. I know that my clients will benefit from them. My favorite part though had to be the section with chai recipes because I love my chai tea!
“You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.”

This book caught my eye as I love everything about tea, from flavors and blends, to tea sets, to brewing methods, rituals, and healing potential. My cupboard is full of tea, but I wanted more. I wanted to learn how to formulate my own. This book was exactly what I was looking for and provided the extra bonus of an innovative approach. It starts off with some history and then is broken down into 3 parts; 1. the art of blending, 2. recipes and 3. ‘living amid your medicine’. The author has an appealing conversational writing style and hits on fascinating facts such as those surrounding the chemistry of taste. There are a number of recipes that include readily available ingredients but there also are numerous ones where I will need to do some detective work to find the ingredients such dong quai, astragalus, horsetail, kukicha twig, milky oat tops.
A wonderful, in-depth book about one of my favorite things.
Being into alternative medicine, I am on the lookout for ways to enhance, improve and change my lifestyle to live more close to nature.
I already prepare a variety herbal teas and was on the lookout for more varieties and variations I can add to my palette ;) and that's how I ended up wanting to read Sarah Farr's book on Herbal Teas.
Now, now, this does not mean I am giving up my caffeine partiality - nothing trumps coffee, what do you say coffee lovers? That's one thing I don't want to give up, you know, the day never starts till I have a cup of coffee ;) I have finally restricted it to 1 - 2 cups per day :P Now, on to the more healthy herbal teas!
So, herbal teas are one way to indulge in your beverage fix without hurting your health and the best part - it also has loads of health benefits to offer. Sarah Farr's book offers extensive information for those looking to improve their health in a natural way.
In this book Sarah not only gives 101 different recipes to choose from, but also, teaches how to cultivate herbs that can be easily grown, how to preserve them and create blends that are ready to use, so you don't have to do it every time or pay truckloads for buying them off shelves, and most importantly, crafting your herbal teas according to your requirements - seasonal ailments, stress, immunity enhancement, etc.
If you are looking for a comprehensive and complete guide on herbal teas, look no further! It is a very useful book that's a must for every tea lover, or health conscious individual out there!
This is by far the best tea blending and brewing book that I have found so far. There are a lot of books on the market that offer recipes or basic instructions for how to make herbal tea and remedies, but this book includes everything you need, including instructions for how to get the most benefit from your tea brewing and specifics on herbs and their actions.
This would make a great addition to any herbalist's library or a great gift for someone who is looking for information on natural health benefits of herbs. I was impressed by the organisation in this book. It is easy to read, easy to understand and also convenient for when you want to find a specific part of the book for later review.
Over all, this was impressive and I look forward to reading it again and using it in the future.
