McKenna always gives us great books to read and this is no exception! Complicated drama with life and death situations and romance to boot, that is what she writes and Noah and Caro's story is no different. I know when I get a book from her it will be fantastic and worth every penny. You must add this to your reading list immediately if you like a little soldier enhancement and rebellion along with romance.
Noah is the self imposed leader of a group of men and women like him. His leadership is not challenged until this book. He is head of a biotech firm and has more than enough money. He is engaged and trying to be normal when for his birthday his sister hires a belly dancer. She completely turns his world upside down immediately. He cannot take his attention away from her even for his fiancé.
Caro is running for her life. She has been framed for murder and has had to leave everything and everyone behind and after what she saw she truly believes in monsters. She takes small jobs in order to live. When she dances for Noah though something changes. She feels and instantaneous connection to the man that scares her to death. What she doesn't know is that Noah knows the man who framed her.
Noah finds out after he chases the dancer into the street that she knows Mark, the man that kidnapped one of his friends who is like himself. She has gotten away though and he is reeling from that more than the fact that his fiancé just broke up with him, his brother that has been unaccounted for for 13 years has just saved him from going into business with the enemy.
Noah hires Caro for a private dance and they start there. He figures she's running, he's seen it before, in himself, and he feels the need to comfort her and feed her and keep her safe. She is resistant.
The journey Caro and Noah take is a minefield of emotions that includes a very sexual relationship, a battle of wills, and a quest for information.
Can Noah win her heart and keep her safe? Can Caro clear her name and reclaim her life? You'll have to read to find out.
