LUCIFER is a little bit of a different read in the VIA series. Lucifer is a powerful vampire, but not a Vampire Lord; and both of the leads are vampires, so it’s not the usual vampire/human pairing. The kidnapping of Colin, Sophia’s mate, is also finally addressed here. Lucifer is brought up to Canada to take over the search for Colin. Lucifer has some mad powers that makes him ideal for the task. Sophia doesn’t know him, so she sends one of her own trusted security vampires, Eleanor, to assist him.

Elle and Lucifer, however, have a long-ago relationship from when she was still human, one that Lucifer is eager to revive. As for Elle, she has her own reasons for wanting to leave the past behind, and is not so eager to resurrect their love affair. Unfortunately for her, resisting Lucifer’s charms is not going to be an easy task.

LUCIFER is another enjoyable read in the the VIA world. The books are getting better as the series progresses, imo, because Reynolds is writing the 'Vampire Wars' books more in the UF style of the early books. There are still the individual romances; but the stories themselves are grittier, and playing into the overall arc of the greater vampire power plays of this world. Recommended.

Lucifer, Book 11 of The Vampires in America Series,  D.B. Reynolds

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre: Romance, Sci-fi and Fantasy

Well, I’ve said before – I love this series, its one that I pick up from time to time and re-read all the stories so far.
Its one of those series where each book is complete as far as the romance goes, ( apart from the first – but that was Raphael, and that guy needed two books!)

However there’s also a strong overarching main plot, and that's where the European vampires come in. they’re looking at how much space there is in the US compared to what they hold, and have been making attempts to take parts over. So far they’ve been pushed back, out witted despite some dirty tricks, but the threat just grows greater each time, with the idea of taking over an area and becoming a Lord attracting more and more European Vampires. Now they seem to be teaming up in some way, though as ever Vampires don’t really do teamwork that well, they all distrust each other so much.

Raphael has been instrumental in holding areas of the US together, he’s powerful and some of the current Vampire Lords are either his own Children, or ones he’s been close to for many years and who trust him. Its not often that happens, and its a mark of how respected and powerful he is, and how visionary, that his ideas when this all started have held things together so far. He’s happy with his own territory but with Vampires its always under challenge; conflict and battle is a way of life, so he’s worked to help put strong vampires who trust/respect him in power in the areas close to him.

America is a huge place though, and Sophia, Lord of Canada has a vast area to control. Raphael helped her when the previous Lord was missing, and she was searching for him. That was a dangerous time all round, he’d been a weak Lord and it was hard to know who to trust. She’s tried hard to rectify things since his death but its been a tough haul, and now her Mate Colin has been taken, with everything pointing to betrayal from within. She needs help to find him, but is this a wider plot, bringing in not just threats to Canada, but part of the whole European threat?
Raphael and a couple of other Lords are the only ones she’s trusted enough to ask for help. Its a thin line, too much aid and she risks being seen as weak, too little and Colin’s dead.

Sophia wasn’t ever one of my favourite stories but I’ve always liked her Mate Colin. He’s incredibly loyal, and well respected among the vampires, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s friends with Cyn, Raphael's Mate.  I didn’t really feel I knew her before but in this book I get a much better idea of her, and felt I understand her more. She’s had a tough time, female among a group of very Alpha, territorial males. There are few vampire females and even fewer in positions of power, and she has to work harder than the men to been seen as strong enough to rule. She’s tried to be fair, tried not to be weak as the former Lord, Lucien, was, tried to be just but now it looks like that has backfired and someone – or several someones have betrayed her.
Colin warned her she needed to be tough on some of the Vampires, not to trust them, but she wanted to give them a chance, and now they are paying for that with Colin being tortured nightly and videos being sent to her.

I loved Eleanor, understood why she hadn’t contacted Lucifer, it was heartbreaking what happned to her and how she perceived her future. She’s very loayl to sophia and has worked hard to get her postion as a bodyguard, she’s not just some token female, vampires don’t do that, she’s there because she’s one of the best.
Lucifer – well, who couldn’t love him. Southern chanrmer, gorgeous and sexy, and still so in love with Eleanor. He wants some answers and I understood why.
I loved the way he adores Elanoer but still lets her do her part, donesn’t ry to belittle her just becuase she’s female even though his instincts scream at him to protect her. she’s strong, he recognises that and is willing to use it when they need it.

Lucifer is one of Aden’s vampires, young but very strong, and an incredible hunter. He’s charged with aiding Sophia to get Colin back, but what he doesn’t know is one of her most trusted staff is his former human lover. He thought she’d died, killed by another vampire, so he’s shocked to see her with Sophia, and angry at finding she left him, she wasn’t dead but never contacted him.
He wants answers, and as she’s aiding him in the search for Colin he’s the opportunity to get them. Eleanor is shocked to find its Lucifer heading the search, but soon its clear the heat between them burns as hot as ever.

That heat, the sensuality, jumps off the page, and looking back these books get hotter and hotter with each one it feels. Still, Debbie keeps the balance of sex and story perfectly. I hate it when the sex becomes the story. I want the romance but I want it to fit in the story, not dominate it. Here we’ve a multi stranded novel, there’s the search for Colin, who has him and why, the European threat to all the US vampires, whether they recognise it or not, and of course the growing rekindling romance between Lucifer and Eleanor.
They’ve things to explain, things to work out but time is short and Colin being human is in grave danger. Of course there’s another problem to be sorted if Lucifer and Eleanor are to be together, he’s one of Aden's Vampires and she’s one of Sophia's – how do they work that out?

I love the way the novel plays out, how the trails are followed, how links to further plots woven in, and hints of what’s to come are seeded.
The battles are bloodthirsty as ever, Debbie’s Vampires bite, are tough, violent and thrive in vicious conflicts. They don’t feel over done though, like the sex scenes they fit the story, and aren’t there just as padding but to push through more plots and tie up ends.

Its another great read, a terrific sensual romance, with a story that moves the whole series just that bit further into potential war with Europe.

Stars: Five, a great read to add to the series.

Lucifer is another great addition to the Vampires of America series and one I am sure readers of this genre will love.

I’m always wondering how to classify the genre of the Vampires In America Series. Yes, it is Paranormal Romance but it is also Urban Fantasy, Romantic Suspense and Erotic Romance. It is romance in that the focus is always on the romantic involvement of the main characters but the running side story is all about vampire politics which is often violent and conniving. In this installment we are treated to the most romantic of all of Reynolds’ vampires. Lucifer Scuderi loved Elinor before she was made a vampire and lost her twenty years ago. Now he finds her again as his aide in recovering the kidnapped Colin and he has no intentions of losing her again. Elinor is still besotted with Lucifer but thinks that their relationship is doomed because she thinks two vampires cannot find happiness together. Together they make a formidable team in the search for Colin.
This series is still going strong after eleven books which is to the credit of terrific writing and an author not afraid to change things up. Always, Ms. Reynolds’ heroines are feisty and quite able to take care of themselves in this violent world. Elinor is a vampire to be reckoned with. Humans, those not a love interest of the protagonists, are relegated to bit-part players, usually as daytime trusted guards of the vampires. I would like to see humans playing a more pivotal role in the series. There is a lot of sex in this book. A lot! I personally would have liked less because the story did not need this amount to carry the plot or theme. I even found myself skipping some sex scenes, which is far beyond what I usually do, so I could get back to the meat of the story. The action scenes are truly well choreographed and leave us biting our nails to wait for the end of the confrontation. The suspense is riveting.
This is a superb addition to a superb series. Yes, this is a standalone book but you would do well to enjoy the entire series starting with book #1 RAPHAEL. You can type in my search box Vampires In America to find my reviews for all of the books in the series.

Enjoyable story, first time I have read a vampire second chance romance but it was action packed and held my attention. Sometimes it got a little confusing as to which person was narrating the story but overall a good read.

Another hit in this amazing series! Ok, I'll be the first to admit I love this series and all the new characters but I always miss Raphael and Cyn....and while they weren't as present as I wished I didn't miss them as much as the story flowed well without them. I think it may be that Lucifier is younger than most of the Lords that we've met thus far because he still has this "human" aspect to him that was endearing and complemented his ruthlessness well. Eleanor was fantastic for him and I was so happy to resolve the disappearance of Colin. I am uber stoked by the Epilogue and quite curious what our Lords(cough, Raphael, cough) have planned for the Europeans!

A devilish game is afoot. A game set to destroy all Vampire Lord Sophia holds dear: her love, her mate, her Colin. What Sophia needs is a master at the art of the game. Someone who knows and understands strategies and puzzles. A thinking man with a head for details and a methodical intellect to match. Lucifer Scuderi is that man.

Lucifer is a powerful and loyal vamp and a good friend to his Lord Aden, doing just about anything asked of him – even helping recover a fellow lord’s mate. Having a strategic mind is one of Lucifer’s many talents. He finds himself saddled with a partner: one of Sophia’s best to aid him in his search and rescue mission. Upon seeing his new partner, his world tunnel visions into a heart stopping revelation, one that will fill and empty wound that left him an aching gaping wound where is heart once was.

Eleanor Morel, a tough and strong (albeit young) vampire has worked her way up to being a bodyguard. No longer a shy and fragile human, she has cemented over the loss of her physical humanity and carved out a new vampire life that still holds the sting of a lost love and all that can never be.

This is a tale of two couples.

One is set on a connection forged in battle and not allowing it to be torn apart by those evil enough to target a perceived weakness, and the other is a reconnection and a shared goal that will overpower both of them.

Vampires in America is a series that not only has cemented itself in the hallowed halls of the fantasy book realm, and it’s not losing its steam. It’s only getting hotter, more intuitive, and massively satisfying. Dare I say, next to Raphael, Lucifer has ensnared me with his devilish charms, becoming one of my top reads in the series.

D.B Reynolds has delivered a master class in what paranormal romance is meant to be.

I have always been a paranormal romance fan and D.B. Reynolds is among my top five PNR authors. The why of it is simple. She has a unique ability to weave together sexy but supremely intense and action-packed stories. And her characters? Simply outstanding.

At book eleven in the ViA, there is no sign of series fatigue, story duplication, or character boredom. Lucifer held me on a nail-biting precipise from beginning to the pulse pounding climax and ending. I won't tell you the intricacies of the story because, as I always say with well-told stories, I won't be doing it any justice. But I will make this confession, *deep breath*...Sophia was the one Lord in the series who I always felt was weaker than the others. I enjoyed her story reasonably well but didn't love it because I didn't love her for what I felt was a weakness. Anyone who else had those feelings about Sophia will definitely see her in much different and much more potent light in Lucifer. She went into beast mode and it was glorious!

The primary characters in this story, Lucifer and Eleanor, were exceptionally well crafted and unique for two reasons: neither of them was a territory Lord although Lucifer was definitely strong enough to be one; and both of them were vampires which has never happened in the series. There is always a lord and their human mate. Reynolds masterfully navigated the relationship and power dynamics between Lucifer and Eleanor as the story unfolded. Readers will utterly fall in love with the couple when discovering their connection to one another.

Lucifer will leave you with a case of book boyfriend hangover for certain!

With book eleven we get to meet Lucifer or as I like to think of him the luscious Luc! This powerful Vampire is so much more than he seems with his cocky attitude, devilish good looks and in many ways he is like the Jack Sparrow of the Vampire world except he's a lot more bloodthirsty and dangerous! Yet as a loyal subject of Aden he will serve his Lord to the best of his ability and if that means travelling to Canada to rescue a missing Mate then bring it on but first he really needs to deal with a huge shock to his system as his dead past is about to come to life right in front of his eyes!
Ok we've known that European Vampires are sniffing around the Lords who control North America but it looks like all out war is imminent as Sophia desperately struggles to maintain calm whilst allowing outsiders into her territory. Vampires don't exactly play well together so you can imagine just how much conflict this causes . Lucifer isn't exactly about to roll over for Sophia but it's realising that he has to partner with Eleanor that really shakes him. The author offers flashbacks to open up their story and it's an emotional read at times. Eleanor is a fierce Vampire , protecting her Lord but she's actually someone who really struggles with certain aspects of her nature. This is my first male/female Vampire pairing from this author and it's one that sets the page on fire, perhaps have ice on standby ? If brutally honest I wanted a tad less sexy times but if you want a combustible relationship then this couple have chemistry that's off the charts!
The overall storyline is advancing with this book and it's setting up quite nicely for lots more bloodshed to come I fear. For now though it's a happy ending as romance and love triumphs and what more could I ask?
This is my voluntary opinion of an Advance Reader Arc
Four and a half from me

VIA is a series that has maintained its quality in time and I'm habby about it - it's so rare!

While in the previous books the MCs were destined to fight to become Lords, here we have a less high in hierarchy ones: Lucifer and Eleanor. He's Aden's lieutenants while she's Sophia's head bodyguard.

Lucian, though a lieutenant, is a very powerful vampire: strong, obviously gorgeous, powerful, very alpha!

While a could totally see Lucifer as a strong lieutenant, I didn't have a feeling that Eleanor is strong enough to be an adequate head bodyguard, even if we see some of her strenght on display. She was too girly for that role, IMHO...

The background story is Colin's rescue and the threat of European Master Vampire threat to Sophia's rule of the Canadian Territory.

All this said, I loved the action (mostly I loved Lucifer's action), the sexy times, the easily (thank God there was no useless drama-lama!) solved conflict between Lucifer and Eleanor, Sohia's POV on Colin kidnapping, timely appearance of other Lords (I particularely enjoyed Raphael's!)!

As hinted in the epilogue, I'm so looking forward to what they'll all do to bring war on European Lords inthe next book!!!!

4.5 Stars. Vampires in America is one of my favorite series and it still thoroughly enjoyable even after 11 books which is a credit to the author. The series is still entertaining, able to keep me engaged and adding just enough new elements to keep it fresh! That said while I really liked this book it wasn't my favorite in the series (maybe because the romance seemed to happen so easily and the over abundance of sex scenes). This book centers around Lucifer a vampire who under Aiden who has the ability to see links and has a strong telepathy gift. When Sophia's mate is kidnapped she goes to Raphael for help and Aiden volunteer's Lucifer for the job of finding Collin. Lucifer is a very strong vampire and will one day be a vampire Lord so Sophia insists on sending one of her trusted vampires along with him. It turns out that Eleanor has a history with Lucifer. She was his lover when she was mortal but she left him and he thought she was dead for the past few decades. Eleanor is a very young vampire and so at times she has more "human" sensibilities than most vampires. So although this is the first pairing of vampire and vampire it at times still felt like a human/vampire pairing. I really loved both Eleanor and Lucifer but I thought that Lucifer got over Eleanor's letting him believe she was dead a bit easily and the romance was solidified very early in the story. Although the sexy times were well written and very hot there were actually too many of them IMO. I love a good, hot sex scene but I found myself wanting to get back to the story. The action and suspense in this book was outstanding. I was on the edge of my seat hoping that Collin would be rescued and anticipating the reunion with Sophia. The book had several flashbacks of the earlier relationship between Lucifer and Eleanor that worked well to give the reader a picture of how much they loved each other and to help really understand what happened in the past. The flashbacks were well integrated and added to the story (I'm not usually a big fan of flashbacks but in this book they worked well).

I loved the ending of the book and the anticipation for the next book in the series.

Lucifer is the 11th book of the Vampires in America. I didn't know this series, but I think I will do some catching up. The cover of D.B. Reynolds book certainly got my attention. And without reading the first 10 books, this book was perfectly readable. Of course, you miss some of the history of Sophia, the Vampire lord and some basics on how those lords operate. But you catch up pretty quick, and let's face it: Lucifer is just too hot to care about all those vampire politics.

The story starts with Colin, Sophia's mate, who is being tortured. Well, you certainly have all the attention there D.B.. Then the story continues with Sophia, Eleanor and lord Aden. Lord Aden proposes that one of his vampires (Lucifer) will help Sophia tracking her mate down. Since there are a lot of traitors, it is difficult for Sophia to accept help. To be sure, she isn't being deceived, she appoints her most trusted vampire (Eleanor) to go with Lucifer. What she doesn't know is that Eleanor and Lucifer share a history. An unfinished history...
So when Lucifer and Eleanor meet, tension goes throught the roof and sparks are flying. But are those sparks enough to overcome history???

Find out during the journey of Eleanor and Lucifer to track down Colin and his abductors. Who is the traitor among Sophia's clan? And will Eleanor and Lucifer be in time to save Colin?

This book will keep you on edge. Makes you wonder what will come next and who will be the traitor. And of course the mutual attraction between Lucifer and Eleanor. Will they fold to the attraction, or has too much happened for them to make amends? Thank you ImaJinn Books and Netgalley for this ARC. Four out of five stars for me. And I'll definitely start on the rest of the series!

I love the Vampires in America Series. I fell in love with it when Cyn and Raphael stole my heart back in 2014 when I bought book 1, and the series just keeps getting better. Lucifer the 11th book was so good I power read through it. I love the building story line of the European vampires trying to take over America. It's got me on pins and needles wondering what will happen next. Plus it lets me keep in touch with past couples as they join together to help each other keep America theirs. This book had two love stories in it. The big second chance love story of Lucifer and the long lost love of his life Eleanor. It also has the on going love story of Sophia vampire Lord of Canada and her Mate Colin who was kidnapped and tortured.
I loved getting to see Sophia and Colin again, but my heart broke over all they went through. I loved Lucifer and Eleanor's love story. I really enjoy second chance loves and they had a sweet one filled with passion and plenty of I love yous. Lucifer was charming, sexy, and really badass. Eleanor was loyal, brave, and kicked ass in her own right. They made a very cute couple. Something I really love about this series is not only do I get an amazing love story I get tons of action. The end of this book gave a idea of what's coming in the next book and I can't wait! Another great book in an awesome series.

I bow at the greatness of D.B. Reynolds and her way of creating a world where vampires are fierce and deliciously seductive. Nobody can write a vampire world like her.

The words just flow and this vampire world unfolds, sucks you in and takes you on an intense ride that's full of intrigue, gritty moments and packed with passion.

Lucifer is yet another powerful vampire in the VIA series who completely steals your heart. He's got a swagger about him. He's very confident in who he is and masterful in his abilities to track. He's been tasked with finding Sophia's mate Colin. Imagine his surprise when he finds out who's going to be helping him.

Once again we have been given a strong heroine. Eleanor is awesome. She's a gutsy vampire who can hold her own against anyone, strong and full of confidence in her skills. She's also carrying a broken heart from losing the love of her life. She allows herself to be vulnerable without crumbling.

The chemistry between her and Lucifer is smoldering hot and full of passion. Their history is one of all consuming love and heartbreak. This book had a bigger romantic feel to it for me. It's a perfect balance to the intense mystery of who took Colin and finding him before it's too late.

Everything about this book kept me on the edge of my seat. It's fast moving, at times violent and a bit gruesome as is the world of vampires defending their territory. The politics of territories once again plays a big part of the story.

This book sets up for what is obviously going to be a war and I can't wait.

In this book 11 of Vampires in America, the vampire wars between the Americans and Euro vamps continue to heat up at a dramatic and violent pace. Even though Raphael and Cyn defeated Mathilde, her cronies are now making a play for Sophia’s territory of Canada. They have kidnapped her mate, Colin Murphy, torturing him brutally in order to undermine Sophia’s ability to defend her land and people. Luc Scuderi is on loan from Aden to help tract down Colin and defeat Sophia’s enemies, many of whom are her own vampires. Luc’s tremendous skills and power make him a worthy asset for any vampire lord. Several years before, Luc had been in love with a woman who disappeared suddenly. He believed her dead only to find that Eleanor was not only alive, but Sophia’s vampire bodyguard. She had been brutally and forcibly turned by one of Luc’s rivals. Eleanor believed that Luc could never love her because vampires very rarely mated with one another.

Luc is handsome, powerful, and very arrogant vampire poised to become a lord in his own right. When Luc agrees to help Sophia at lord Aden’s request, he is stunned to find Eleanor, the love of his life whom he thought lost forever. They put aside their past to work together rescuing Colin and helping Sophia, who now is being attacked on several fronts by the land grabbing Eurovamps invading her region. As usual with this author, we see into the past of Luc and Eleanor to what their relationship was like when they were first together. One thing Luc knows for sure, he is never letting Eleanor go again no matter what the cost to his future. Eleanor is a bit different from some of the female vampires we have seen in that she has only been a vampire for a relatively short period and really has more human sensibilities emotionally speaking.

Eleanor and Luc make a good team both on the job and in a more personal way once they come to terms with their past heartbreak and get over some long held hurts. Clearly the Eurovamps are still coveting the American lands after trashing their own backyard. Much more is on the line than just Canada so one thing has become very clear: War is coming. Fans of this series should enjoy Luc and Eleanor’s story.

I received this book from Netgalley for an honest review. Dark and seductive vampire Lucifer hunts for the kidnapped mate of Sophia, ruler of the vast Canadian Territories. A powerful vampire, and the only woman ruler, she defends her territory from attack as her second and Lucifer close in on the abductors. Betrayal, revelations, and looming war with the European vampires, Lucifer is an action packed PNR addition to the Vampires in America series.

Well, as usual D.B. does not disappoint! Her readers will get one more delicious and adorable American vampire. Lucifer was an absolute darling!

The plot is pretty straightforward. Sophia's mate, Colin Murphy, has been kidnapped by her enemies, and Aden lends her his personal Sherlock Holmes, a relatively young vampire with a gift for seeing patterns and a very strong telepathy.

Sophia doesn't want him to work alone in her territory, and sends her own trusted friend and bodyguard, Eleanor, to watch over him and help him in his investigation. However, there is a catch. Eleanor has been a vampire for no more than twenty years, and Lucifer used to be her lover in her human days. She is a love of his life, actually. And when she disappeared, he was inconsolable.

Imagine Lucifer's shock and joy to see Eleanor again! A lot of tension, sexual and emotional ensues until the couple clears the misunderstanding between them and gives into the feelings.

It was really interesting to see D.B. walking away from the usual formula of a human-vampire couple, but dear reader, it was done sweetly and gracefully.

Lucifer might be ruthless in his desire to gain status and territory, but he is not pure brute force, he is quite subtle and reserved, and there is clear self-perception with a healthy dose of irony, especially concerning his feelings towards Elle. From the moment he meets her he knows that she is his first priority and does everything in his power to make her happy, which means that a lot of his plans and methods change.

By the way, holy Molly, these two were pretty hot! The scene in the blood club? YUM. Give them another few years together, and their double seduction would be beyond scorching.

I also loved Sophia's parts of the plot, the way she had to cope with her partner's suffering while fighting European vampires and uncovering traitors in her ranks. She was a strong, wonderful woman!

At last, I also noticed that the descriptions of vampire powers evolved as soon as the author introduced magic into this series. There is no just vague, abstract power use anymore. There are swords of energy, bulletproof shields, and devious mental probes among other ways of visualization. I really liked that development and distinction between different vampire talents. I think it will make the series even more interesting.

Overall, big thumbs up. The ending made me jump in my seat! Lucifer was charismatic, Elle - sweet, Sophia - a force to be reckoned with, the plot - dynamic, and the story arch - exciting. Recommended.

I'm kicking myself for not knowing about this series. This is book 11 and despite not reading previous books, I wasn't lost. You quickly learn the players involved and what the immediate concern is and it takes off from there. You can read this as a standalone but if they are all as good as this one, you will want to start at book 1.

This books main focus is on Lucifer and Eleanor with a minor focus on Sophia and Colin. Colin is Sophia's human mate who was kidnapped and is being tortured to try to distract Sophia so the enemy can bring her down and take over her territory. This is where Lucifer comes in. He is asked to conduct this search and Sophia has asked her bodyguard, Eleanor to help him.

Eleanor used to be Lucifer's human mate before another vampire changed her to take her away from him. Lucifer believed Eleanor was killed and they have not seen each other for 20 years. Lucifer has to search for Collin while dealing with the shock of learning Eleanor has been alive all these years.

There is a lot going on in this story but it never felt like it was too much. Great characters, great story line and I look forward to going back and reading the previous books! ARC provided by NetGalley.

I received this book in exchange for a voluntary and honest opinion.

Lucifer was a vampire and Eleanor a human...they were in love. One night it all changed.

Over 23 years have passed since they have seen one another. Lucifer was lead to believe Elle died. She did in a sense, she was reborn a vampire. When they see one another again it will bring up unresolved feelings.

They will have to work together to save the mate of Sophia, the Lord Vampire Eleanor is sworn to protect. If anyone can find and save her mate it is Lucifer, who is a powerful vampire in his own right. He is helping at the request of Aden, his Lord Vampire because they know this kidnapping is part of a plan to take over the Canadian territories by evil European vampires.

Will Lucifer and Eleanor succeed in saving Sophia's mate? Will the past sty the past or become the future?

This author has a little spin on her vampires. Basically, depending on their vampire genes they can have more or less power than others. They can visualize (say, a sword) and push their power into becoming the item and use the item to kill another vampire. I thought this was a different twist.

I have read several of this series: Vampires in America and have enjoyed them all. I look forward to more of them also.

If you enjoy vampires, then you will enjoy this story as well as other books in this series. All are standalone with no cliffhangers.

What can I say about D.B. Reynolds that hasn’t already been said? I mean seriously. This woman is so awesome! Every story she writes is dangerous, exciting, mysterious and provocative. And that is definitely true in LUCIFER, Book 11 in the Vampires in America series!

There ain’t nothing sexier than a French-Cajun vampire! Lucifer is powerful, charming and very deadly. He’s been asked to help find the kidnapped mate to the Vampire of Canada. His partner for this mission is someone not unknown to Lucifer. In fact, she’s a woman he loved a long time ago. She vanished just vanished. Needless to say, Lucifer is a bit upset. And when a Vampire is upset, nothing good ever comes of it.

Eleanor is a strong vampire. She’s earned her place at the side of her Vampire Lord. She’s loyal, efficient, and also deadly. She’s not too keen on outsiders coming into their territory to help find the Vampire Lord’s mate, but knows they need all the help they can get. When she finds out who is leading the search, she is completely blind-sided. As they work together, old memories start to resurface and lines get blurred quickly as Eleanor’s resistance to the sexy vampire falters. Lucifer’s charm is just as deadly as it was when she was human.

As the pair search for the missing mate, deep layers of rot are revealed in the Canadian Vampire Lord’s territory. Loyalties are tested and traitors are more abundant than allies. Who can be trusted? Lucifer and Eleanor face countless unknown threats. The most dangerous one of all may not involve losing their heads…but their hearts.

I highly recommend this and every book in the Vampires in America series!

Summary

In the territory of Canada, Sophia is the ruler but the worst has happened, her human mate Colin has been kidnapped and tortured and kept alive through vampire blond. So she calls in some help, so she can focus on keeping order and find the traitors. Lucifer, may be younger than most vampires but under the aid of Aden and Bastien has been building on his power and strengths. He has come to help since his expertise is seeing those “clues” and his partner is Sophia’s most trusted friend and bodyguard Eleanor. Lucifer and Eleanor are thrown a curveball, because they were once lovers but Eleanor and Lucifer were torn apart by an enemy and now they will have to work together to find Colin as fast as possible. Eleanor was forcefully turned into a vampire by Lucifer’s enemy, and she was too confused and ashamed to go to him. She has spent the years since learning to fight and being capable and strong. They are on the clock to find Colin, and the traitors behind the kidnapping and betrayal of Sophia and Canada is no small territory to cover. Being around each other, Lucifer and Eleanor will also have to face the past if they want to have a future together….
Plot and Story Line

Lucifer was another fantastic addition to this series and I LOVED it!! It definitely has some fun old characters we get to get back in touch with like Aden, Bastien, Sophia and Colin and even some snippets of Raphael and Cyn. Those who have fallen in love with this series will have a blast with these characters. Now it starts off with a not so happy start. One of my favorite couples….are in the fight of their lives. Colin and Sophia. Now Sophia is the vampire lord over Canada which she just recently took over and not everyone in her territory are happy about it. She is being sent tapes of Colin’s torture and even though she knows he is alive she has no idea where he is being held and is forced to ask for help. Because she has no idea who she can trust. And there is quite a bit of tension between Lucifer and Eleanor. Now we do get a few flashbacks to see their relationship before and see what drove them apart. Now Lucifer is one solid hero….he was so understanding and patient. In fact, there was nothing wrong I could see with him at all. He was so steady and reliable but dangerous when there is an enemy and boy is he powerful. But what I really liked the best about him is he didn’t use that power for power alone. He used it to help others or defeat a evil. All that mattered to him was Eleanor, and I loved seeing how devoted he was to her despite the past. Eleanor has learned some painful lessons, and even though she made some decisions that were the best….they were understandable. I felt compassion for both of these characters and the horrible circumstances that a enemy put them in. Which is why I loved seeing this love story get a second chance for a happy ending. And who doesn’t love a good mystery? Because Reynolds really outdid herself in this one.

Quite a thrill to see the adventure, suspense and a good mystery in the midst of a paranormal romance you can cheer for!! Another Winning romance for D.B. Reynolds!!! And it looks like the series is just beginning for a war and some battles in Europe BRING IT ON!!!
The Cover

LOVE this cover so much!!! Love the feel of danger and power in this one. The male model fits just right for Lucifer as he is described in the book.
Overall View

Lucifer is a vampire romance that is packed with action, danger and a solid mystery that will keep the reader guessing!! SIMPLY EXHILARATING!

Remember when we learned that Sophia's mate was kidnapped and you got all mad inside? Well this book resolves it all, and then some. I think it goes without saying that if you haven't read the previous 10 books (and short stories), you shouldn't really choose now to dive in, especially with the war looming.

Sophia has finally involved the other vampire lords in helping to locate her missing mate. Of course, the motivation is assumed to be linked to all the other european incursions lately, so it makes sense that they need to tread carefully. The identified "agent" for this task? Lucifer, Aden's most trusted and valuable hunter. He has a knack for details and getting people to share even their most private secrets. He also has a secret past with Sophia's most trusted guard, Eleanor.

Eleanor has been hiding a massive secret. Before she became a vampire, she was in love with one. She was turned and ran, all because of an assumption that a relationship between two vampires can't happen. She even let him think that she was dead. Needless to say, their reunion is filled with all sorts of revelations. This relatively small misunderstanding is easily worked out once these two open up, but there are a bunch of impediments to their relationship. Oh, and they have to find Sophia's mate.

Sophia's mate is no slouch, though, and he proves himself to be as strong as the vampires sent to rescue him. This turning point in the war books was filled with the perfect balance of action, romance, smut, history, and betrayal. I loved every page!

This is book 11 in the Vampires in America series. I would suggest the series is read in order as characters over lap & the books share a strong overall storyline.
Lucifer is sent to Canada by his Lord , Aden, to assist in the hunt for Conor, human mate and lieutenant to Lady Sophia , ruler of these lands .Does he have an ulterior motive ??
Unable to look for Conor herself , but knowing he is still alive through their mate bond although badly injured , Sophia appoints Eleanor , her personal guard, to represent her in the hunt .
Sophia must stay apart from the hunt to fight a rearguard action against the invading European Vampires seeking to find her weakness , in their resolve to take over her lands .
Lucifer is in for a shock as he realises that Eleanor is his lost love who he had presumed dead ....
sparks fly as they both realise that their love for each other is as strong as ever despite the past .
The hunt for Conor is beset by deceit and danger as both power hungry local vampires and the European vampires combine their forces .
Will Lucifer turn out to be an advantageous addition returning Colin to Sophia or Aden's trojan horse in the war ?

I look forward to the next in this series as this one of the better Vampire /Romance series out there .

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review by NetGalley
Hot d*** Be careful with this steamy novel because you might get burned! I certainly didn't expect this when I asked for a copy because it took place in Montreal! I hadn't read any of the other books of this series and was positively surprised by how easy it was to understand what had previously happened.
The couple had great chemistry and Lucifer was absolutely... everything. Seriously that guy alone made the book.
This, added to an interesting plot made for a good, light but essentially sexy read.!

Now this is a series I could get behind. A story with great character development. Lucifer the #11 title in Vampire In America: Vampire Wars series wasn't too slow, nor to fast. It flowed flawlessly.

I do want to point out that the main storyline in Lucifer, However, might make you want to visit Sophia story to see how she became who she is. But this reviewer enjoyed Lucifer so much that I am going to start from the beginning and reread Lucifer again. This book was that good.

Another solid installment to the Vampires in America series. This gives us some forward progression to the overall story arc while introducing us to a new couple.

Sophia needs help locating her mate, Colin. After a meeting of the vampire lords, Lucifer is put in charge of the mission to save Colin. Of course, his long lost love, Eleanor, is now in service to Sophia and assigned to help him. Que plot, sex, sex, plot.

This really gives the best of both as there's an intriguing, sometime gruesome, storyline and lots of steamy romps along the way.

Deducted a point as I wasn't terribly excited about Lucifer and his eagerness to headfuck vamps & humans alike.

Lucifer is bit different that the other books in the series. Lucifer is not a Vampire Lord, though I suspect it is in his destiny to become one.
Lord Sophia's mate Colin has been kidnapped and sends out for help when isn't sure who she can trust among her group. Lord Aden sends Lucifer because of his special powers. Sophia isn't sure she can trust him and sends her bodyguard Eleanor to work with Lucifer. They have a past when she was human. Lucifer believed her to be dead and when he sees her he just can't believe his eyes and just wants to hold on to her. Eleanor had her reasons for letting him believe she had died. She tries to resist Lucifer but their love will prove to be stronger than her fears.
This VIA series just keeps getting better and better.
