Description

The newest addition to the Language is Fun series, this colorful picture book from award-winning author Kimberlee Gard and illustrator Sandie Sonke teaches children all about vowel sounds

The vowels, little a, e, i, o, and u, know they are different from the other letters, so they hesitate to join in the playground games, but when the consonants try to form words, they realize just how impossible that is without the vowels. With some encouragement from little y, a letter who belongs to both groups, the vowels join the fun and use their sounds to make words we all love. With anthropomorphized letters as the characters and fun visualizations of words with and without their vowels, Red Rover, Red Rover, Send a Vowel Over is the perfect gift for teachers or parents of new readers!

Red Rover, Red Rover, Send a Vowel Over is a silly picture book about letters who need the vowels to come play with them in order to form words. I loved the way this book not only focused on word structure and the importance of vowels, but also had a message of accepting everyone regardless of their differences. The illustrations are SO cute, and I would definitely recommend this one to kiddos learning about words.

Thanks to NetGalley, Kimberlee Gard, and Familius for the chance to read and review this review copy!

This is the second book I've read by this author and I think it's just as smart!
I love how it teaches word structure and why vowels are different than consonants while also giving a message about accepting each other and working together as a team.
The illustrations are really cute and colorful, perfect for kids!
As I said in my previous review, it is the perfect book to have in classrooms and libraries to teach children.

What a great idea for young children who are learning how to read. I love the concept of this book and the others in the series. It really teaches basic learning to read knowledge that is not easy to grasp initially for some kids. This is a great way to supplement their learning while also having a fun story to go along with it. I love the illustrations and the little story that goes with this vowel book.

Highly recommend for any 3,4, or 5 yr old. I also read it to my 3 yr old and he loved it - so it's not a bad way to start learning.

I enjoyed this series of cute stories to teach children about the vowels and punctuation. The book clearly conveys the rule “You can not make a word without a vowel.” The illustrations are colourful and help the reader connect to the personalities of the letters…such a cute idea. Kindergarten to Grade 2 students will enjoy this story. This book (and the series) would be a great addition to classroom, school and public libraries to be shared with so many.
The expected publication date is September 10, 2024.

Thank you Net Galley, Kimberlee Gard and Familius for the opportunity to preview this title and the opinions shared are my own.

This is a fabulous book for phonically geared students! I read to my 7-year-old who has dyslexia and putting context to spelling really helps him learn. The inclusion of all in games was a great message as well. We'll be re-reading!!!

I'm excited to find these books!

A wonderful addition to the series, this title is a fun, quick read that is perfect for kids in grades K-2. Children will love to follow the vowels as they find their places among the other letters. Introducing the concepts of vowels and consonants in a playful way, the story will also resonate with themes of acceptance and belonging.

Okay this book is BEAUTIFUL?? Like I rarely read a picture book that I think "damn this is amazing, I genuinely want to recommend it"?? but this one, just... hits? I firmly believe good picture books should be for all ages and this one, just feels right?

It's colourful and the illustrations are so stunning, I love how they've done the font and how each character/letter gets a special colour! The plot is super fun too but also informative, it's kept me, as an adult, engaged too!

The perfect book for teaching little ones how to spell and put words together!

This book is bright and entertaining, while educational! And if I'm not mistaken there's even a nice lesson about everyone being important in their own way, and fitting in somewhere!
