Wizards of the Coast publishes best-selling fantasy fiction based on the lore of the Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying game.
Thank you for your interest in our novels! When considering approving requests for advanced reading copies of our books for librarians, booksellers, reviewers/bloggers, Wizards of the Coast looks for the following:
1. NetGalley user is responsible for book reviews via a legitimate audience and platform, such as a regularly updated blog, website, podcast, print publication, library, bookstore, or other media outlet. Things we look for to help determine legitimacy include:
* How often book reviews/discussions or author interviews are posted;
* How recently reviews have been made;
* Reach of audience — 500+ is ideal;
* Relevancy of typical book reviews — preferably dedicated to reviewing sci-fi/fantasy books or at least showing a history of, or interest in, reviewing books in the fantasy fiction genre.
2. NetGalley user's profile is professional and complete:
* Includes links to all relevant blogs, websites, and organizations. If a contributor to a review site with multiple authors, provides a direct link to reviews and articles the NetGalley user has authored.
* Includes specifics about the reach and/or online presence/following of the review site or publication.
* Is honest. Credentials and relevant places of employment are not fabricated.
We take NetGalley profiles seriously and fact-check the information. (If it’s too hard to fact-check, due to insufficient information, we probably won’t approve the request.)
3. Additionally, we take into consideration the user’s NetGalley history:
* How long the user has been on NetGalley — ideally having been actively reviewing books for at least six months (though if demonstrating legitimacy and professionalism, we’re not sticklers about it).
* How often the user gives feedback through NetGalley, and if the NetGalley feedback included a link to the publication or blog where the review was published.
* How many other books the user has requested through NetGalley.
