Description
This colorful guide will Introduce young readers to the numerous ways in which members of the animal kingdom communicate. The means of animal communication turn out to be as intriguing and varied as the content that is being communicated, from mating signals and announcements regarding location and food availability to warning alarms and simple tokens of affection and protectiveness. Echolocation, pheromones, bioluminescence, scent marking, tail wagging, nuzzling, the elephant's trumpet, the honeybee's waggle dance, and more all get their due in this brief, but surprisingly comprehensive, volume.

The layout of the pictures and text are really clear which made it easier to read. Lots of helpful information about how animals communicate that I didnt know previously.
This is an excellent book on the topic of animal communication. The text is informative and appropriate for upper elementary students and older. The photographs are beautiful and enhance the text information. As a children’s librarian, I was glad to see the addition of a glossary and an index.
Don't be a Pinhead – if you need a 'my first book on animal communication' then this is a potential buy. It's not perfect – sometimes there is just too much of a jumble of main text, image caption, definition and rhetorical question for the young thinker to respond to – but it is pretty decent. We cover everything from whale song to pheromones to a dog's posture and suchlike, all in very easy fashion for the younger years of a primary schooling. I have to doubt strongly that this is by the Doug Bradley that is the horror actor, but this certainly is no horror show.
